We get our first look at the partially remodeled Kyle Field Saturday.
Apparently they've decided to try to kill us in the process with some new concessions.

    Here's the crown jewel:

That's Chicken Fried Steak for the northern folks

So Penn State has a brand new state of the art Jumbotron, looks to be similar in size to what Texas A&M put in their new stadium. I'll be curious to see from Scott if the advertising was a bad as this one.

One thing in my trip to Toyota Center to see the Rockets last season after they installed new HD video boards they actually provided up to the second stats on the game and each player on the court at the time. Very helpful. The article on this PSU board was that no stats were available only ads.

I hope someone with money (I'd do it if I had it) buys several advertising blocks on that screen at Penn State to advertise this

Wow! That's one ugly, huge billboard. I'm surprised that PSU allowed it.

Just what we need at ND on the north end of the stadium to block the view of TD Jesus.

Ours is similar in size and divisions, but doesn't show constant ads.
The left side is scores from around the country. The right side is the current game score and stats, the center is for video.
    Very cool so far.
They do use the ribbon boards for ads some, but I don't notice them that much.

    Here it is during testing:

You guys remember Stephen, back in the day he did some consulting for the Ohio State Ath Dept, financial consulting. He posted the hard facts on Jumbotrons, they are expensive and they only make sense if you can maximize your advertising revenue.

I wonder if that is why ND has delayed committing to a Jumbotron for the new stadium upgrades. They have been selling ND Alums and Fans on the concept that it'll be like it was at Yankee Stadium and at Soldier Field, no ads. But then maybe somebody said hold on there, have you looked at the numbers for installation and maintence?

When I go to Astros games at Minute Maid the Jumbotron can be really cool when they give you all the up to date stats on the guy at bat and stuff like that. At Toyota Center the Rockets give you running stats on the game, which is very nice. So if ND had a Jumbotron that focused on the game and keeping you up with the stats, replays, etc that'd be great. But I doubt if they can do it without advertising.

I liked the giant scoreboard down at Jerryworld. Of course during a lot of the game they had closeups of the Dallas Cowgirls. :)

OK so the new phenom at A&M, Kenny Hill, Is now trademarking his name. I had heard the story of Manziel tweeting that he was Kenny Football, but then I heard that he was Kenny Thrill Hill...that sort of made sense. He's a thrill to watch etc. But it turns out that is not the name...it's Trill. What's a trill?
I don't know what to say. Kenny Trill Hill it is.
