Always like to look at this because it gives me an idea what jobs might open up. And it's no surprise that Will Muschamp tops the list. The Fla job is a plumb job and you have to wonder if Will is fired who will be the guy. There was a time when coaches would parade through with interviews. No longer it's all done through 3rd parties with mostly rumors of who is interested and who is not. I find it laughable that Nick Saban is in the top 15 of coaches on the hot seat though. Charlie Weiss at #3 sure, Dana Holgerson I hadn't thought of him, but sure he's not done all that well at WVA in fact Charlie beat him last year. Bobby Petrino at Louisville, hell he hasn't coached a game in his return so how is he on the hot seat. Brian Kelly is way down at #96, but his popularity with the ND fans is very mercurial. 7 or 8 wins and his seat will be 1000 degrees. http://coacheshotseat.com/CoachesHotSeatRanking.htm
Sorry...unfair to put Darrel Hazell on that list...in my opinion. Hopefully the Purdue fans and administration aren't that fickle.
I understand that the list foments conversation, hence it makes sense to post it, but IMO, after the first 5 or 6, they're reaching for names. I agree with Stu. How do you put Darel Hazell on the list after one season?
Sarkisian is having a rough start to the season. Besides the Shaw affair, he's being accused of being a racist by another CB who quit the team. http://nypost.com/2014/08/28/more-usc-trouble-player-quits-team-calls-coach-racist/
Turner Gill was never given a chance at KU....he was thrown under the bus for Charlie. Turner would have done good things at KU.
Every coach in College football would have to be fired before Saban is even mentioned. This writer just lost all credibility.
I think you can add two SEC coaches to that list after the ass whoopin' they took last night. As impressive as aTm was, South Carolina and Vanderbilt were unimpressive. Vandy took a 30 point spike to the head last night from Temple, 37-7. Both Spurrier and Mason were at 112 and 110 in this list before last night. I would think that the number would be somewhat lower today.
I do agree it's ludicrous... more than ludicrous that Saban could be even mentioned in this article. I disagree that Spurrier is on any kind of hot seat at SC with so many recent 11 win seasons there. SC has a long history of mediocrity before Spurrier and those fans know that those times can easily return without THBC at the helm. Muschamp? Oh hell yes..... he had better be putting his money in CDs at this point. I can't imagine after watching Vandy look so inept last night that I personally witnessed Vandy easily beat the Gators last season. How bad could that Gator team have been ?
