Summer in Texas sucks, but at least at this point we can look forward to first kickoff. I'm not going to guarantee an Aggie win Thursday in Columbia, but I suspect many of the pundits who expect us to fall off the earth with the departure of JFF are going to get a surprise. No more talkin', time for some hittin'!!!
Scott, I think most everyone is ready for some football, I know I sure am looking forward to the season, even without Braxton Miller.
Tim, hang in there, the sun will still rise in the morning. I am ready for kickoff. We won't make the first Gator home game but are going to Florida for a week and catching home games 2 and 3. Thursday night is my bowling night so if there is a good game on I want to see I need to record. I'm going to set the recorder right now for the Gamecocks and the Aggies.
Well this is a nice surprise... UM names freshman Brad Kaaya Hurricanes' starting quarterback Kaaya was 23-3 as a starter in high school and threw for a school-record 3,855 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior at Chaminade in West Hills, Calif. He finished his high school career with 5,730 yards and 40 touchdowns in two seasons. Kaaya came to Miami as a 4-star prospect and the seventh-best pro-style quarterback in the nation, according to 247Sports' composite rankings, and he immediately made an impact. Kaaya, a 6-foot-4, 206-pound native of West Hills, California, spent about 13 weeks on campus before training camp and rarely ventured out to see any of the sights of South Florida. Instead, he was often found studying Miami's playbook for hours, and Golden has often pointed out the sacrifices that Kaaya made to get into the quarterback race. "For me, if I was coming to Miami to just go to the city, go out and have fun, I would've stayed back home," Kaaya said earlier this month, on the lone day he's been able to talk with reporters because of team policies regarding new arrivals. "I came here to play football. That was my whole decision. My decision was based on football. I wasn't coming to Miami to just enjoy the extra stuff that Miami has."
Ralph, Your freshman QB appears to be a talented individual. Hope the Canes have a successful season.
Thank you Don your comments are always very kind. If we can come close to what Urban is doing at Ohio State we will be in great shape. It's always fun before the games actually start up....
How is Jake Heaps taking it? It was just a few weeks ago that he publically commented that he didn't come to Miami to be a backup QB. Miami is his 3rd school now, so I hope he's got his plan for life after football in order.
Terry I read that as well, he's QB 1A after Kaaya and expect him to get plenty of playing time. I'm sure it's not sitting all that well but he's experienced to know how the game is played. This true freshman must really be something to get the nod as we head towards Louisville who has embarrassed us the last couple times we have played them.
Fear the kernels? lol Hey... I'm ready for the season to begin.... it can't possibly be worse than last year for the Gators so I can just about guarantee that UF will be better and have better results. If not I will absolutely gurantee we'll have a new coach by January.
Hey Dave my son left for UF yesterday as class starts today in G-Ville. A roommate called him a couple weeks ago and said get on the student section lottery ticket site tonight because for two hours they are selling off the unclaimed student tickets. He hopped on real quick and got season tickets for a whopping $105 for all home games.
Do you think Foley already has a short list and will pull the trigger early like he did with Zook so that he can start contacting candidates early and get out in front of other schools who might be looking as well?
Don said: I reminded my wife last night that football starts in four days. I don't think her response qualifies her as "most everyone".
Wow Ralph.... that's a super deal! He must be pretty excited about that. Terry..... when Bernie Machen targeted Zook for release he had Urban Meyer in his back pocket.... they were good friends and former co-workers. I don't believe he has anyone that Foley could so easily replace Muschamp with at present like that. I truly think Muschamp could be a winner... seems to be a class act.... and keeps his players out of trouble. For his sake and for all Gators I hope Huschamp and his team win a ton of games and get back some of that Gator moxy and swagger.
Chaminade in West Hills is a great school. The Chatsworth area always has great athletes. He should be a good one for you.
