Bad news out of Columbus for the Buckeyes this evening. Apparently Miller reinjured his shoulder in practive today. He could miss a number of games or even worse, his entire senior season. What appeared to be a very promising year for Ohio State, now appears to be a very mediocre season. None of our three backup quarterbacks have hardly any actual game experience. Currently, J T Barrett, sophomore from Texas appears to be the choice. Cardale Jones out of Cleveland Glenville would be the 32 and freshman Steven Collier #3.
That is bad news Don, Miller is such a dynamic player when he is healthy. Who do you think will step forward from the backups?
Terry, Looks like Barrett (sophomore and redshirted last year) They say he is ahead of where Miller was a couple years ago. Not nearly as fleet of foot as Braxton but he will get his feet wet early with only two weeks to go before the Navy game. We will know more today after the MRI results are confirmed. I am looking at the worst scenario at this point
Texas kid who Mack ignored after he tore his ACL, plus they were really hot after Tyrone Swoopes who was highly ranked as a "dual threat". The next Vince Young, except he's not. Good luck to the kid.
Wow, that sux! Don... you guys have a lot of talent around the QB, so I'm sure it won't derail you too much. Might not be quite as exciting, but you'll still move the ball and score.
Bad news indeed. Two major early season injuries to Florida Qbs in the past 5 years led to some pretty disappointng season results... John Brantley in his senior season and Jeff Driskell last year. It's great when the 2nd stringer can pop right in and not miss a step but these days elite Qbs do not seem to enjoy riding the pine behind some other elite starting Qb so depth can be an issue when #1 goes down for the season. Hopefully his injury is only for a few games.
Now seeing that he is done for the season, very sad as he is a very talented kid who unlike that last 2 Heisman winners seems to be a good kid as well. I wonder if he'll try to come back next year or give up football?
I see where ESPN is reporting this but not confirmed yet by Ohio State or Coach Meyer. However, I am not getting my hopes up to be disappointed again. Yes, Braxton was always smiling, good family, and no off color acts of any kind. I do not look for him to come back or apply for a medical redshirt. Really has to be disappointing for Braxton and his family.
That is very dissapointing....time for the Soph to step up. I was hoping to meet OSU (which can still happen) in the B1G Championship. In the words of Rick Flair....in order to be the best, you have to beat the best.....WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
From what I read it happened without any contact. Shoulder injuries are often times worse than a knee. Hope he can make it back if he wants to.
AJ, Who knows what will happen in this topsy turvey world? Wishing you and Nebraska a terrific season! Don
Well for what it's worth the last 2 Heisman Trophy winners were RS Freshman who had never thrown a pass in college...just like J.T.
Thanks for all the kind and caring remarks. Looks like Dr James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama will perform the surgery on Braxton's shoulder. (probably one of KP's neighbors?)
Braxton is scheduled to graduate in December, He wants to continue with grad school and take a medical redshirt, returning for the 2015 season.
Don, Dr. Andrews is the celebrity magnet of Alabama. I think every athlete in the country comes to his clinic for surgery when needed. 8)
Tough break, Terry and Don. The good news is you have depth. Someone will rise up. You just don't know who.
