1st hole in one in my career, I've hit it inside a foot a couple of times but this is the first one to go in the hole. I knew I'd hit a good shot, if you play golf you know what I'm talking about just the way the ball feels coming off your club, when I finished my swing and saw it track to the pin I was just thinking get it close as my brother in law had just hit it to 4 feet and we have money riding on closest to the pin. I lost it when it descended and another guy who plays with us was off to the side and he saw it hit and roll in. It was an 8 iron to about a 142 yard hole. Good feeling
Nice job. I've only had two in 50+ years of golf. Both were on rounds that I was playing poorly. Go figger.
As I posted on FB I'm so damn jealous. I could be in trouble if I get one. I've convinced Mary that if you play enough golf you'll get a hole in one. Since I've never had one, I obviously haven't played enough golf.
I posted this on FB last August, my closest but no cigar shot. That is #6 hole on the same course. Really, Really Close...but.
Congratulations, Doc! That feeling you get when you hit that "perfect" shot is indescribable. But it is so rare to actually close the deal. Add me to the jealous ranks. Big bar tab?
Congrats Terry.... I've had one of those and it was pretty exciting. I have also lipped out on 3 different occasions for a double-eagle two on par 5s....winding up each time just behind the hole. I have had two eagles on par 4s also..... but that's pretty commonplace I think for avid golfers. That hole-in-one was the best though..... enjoy it!
Unfortunately, Doc's ace has come into question and the veracity of his story is being re-visited. The integrity of the game comes first.... We only have his caddie's eye witness account.
No way, I have witnesses and in fact here's a picture I took of the lunch and drinks I bought my playing partners after the round. Mary there on the left is a bulldog for the rules! I think she gets her cataracts fixed pretty soon. Gertrude on the right never could hold her liquor.
BTW: I was really hoping that Billy Hurley, Naval Academy Grad, would have won at the Greenbriar on Independence Weekend. How cool would that have been. But after playing well in the 1st 3 rounds he faltered badly on Sunday.
