    Wow he was way too young. I remember that WS battle with Jackson, classic moment.

    In 1990, Bob Welch won 27 games for the Oakland A's. That was the most wins in a single season by any MLB pitcher since Lefty Carlton won 27 for the Phillies in 1972. It's still the most by any right-hander since Denny McClain won 31 for Detroit in 1968...

    I had forgotten that. You won't see that again; pitchers don't get enough starts and managers treat them like china dolls.

    This new Yankee pitcher Tanaka would have an outside chance. He's a workhorse and hardly ever walks anyone.

    I love that Tanaka. He's a pitcher's pitcher. He paces himself; mixes up his velocity on similar pitches; lives on the corners; and concedes nothing. He's a clinic on how to do things right...
