Schedule as usual. MBC on Friday Night, Four Ponies is the drink! There will be a tailgate, details are fuzzy at the moment other than beer will be available. We used to have this guy from Detroit arrange all of this, but he dumped us for the Tigers this year! Terry
Benton Harbor (Marriot Court Yard) Gip, we'll probably check in and drop the luggage around 2pm and head to South Bend for campus tour/shopping/pep rally/MBC. We have a parking ticket for Joyce South, so that's where the tailgate will be. Terry
(also posted in ND-UCLA topic) Well, fellas, it looks like I won't be able to join you this year. It's a bummer because I live so close. Although I don't have tickets, I was going to drive to my lake cottage on Friday (a little more than an hour from SB). then drive over to join you for the Friday night festivities, after which I would drive back to the lake the same night. When I told my wife of my plan, she reminded me that we are committed (plans made last summer) to my #2 grandson's 8th birthday family party on Saturday in Indy. I had completely forgotten. Needless to say, we will be going south to Indy, which precludes my traveling north to South Bend. :cry: I'll be there in spirit, and I trust you will use the Skybox voodoo on UCLA to bring home a victory. Terry, be sure and bring your cool rainsuit just in case.
ND/UCLA <r>Brian and I hope to be in SB by about 3:00 then check in at the <B><s></s>fabulous <e></e></B>airport Econo-Lodge, do the campus tour/bookstore etc. before heading over to the MBC get together. What time are we looking at for the MBC meet? <E></E></r>

Do you still have to go early to get Pep Rally tickets? Also what is MCG? I'm arriving at O'Hare at 9am for the drive over, I believe its the econo airport as well.
I think you mean MBC, which is a brewery/bar/restaurant that we have been meeting at for years for our own private Friday night pep rally. Better known as the Mishawaka Brewing Company! MBC Be there on Friday Night and get to know us up close and personal!! Terry

Tailgate will be in Joyce South, I would imagine we'll be there around 9 AM and start setting up everything. No hot food till around 10AM. Kickoff will be at 2:30 EDT. Sid will have to bring us up to date as to what time it is in South Bend when it's 1:00 PM in Chicago these days! They've changed the rules and I forget if South Bend is currently on EST or CDT or what. Plans are of course subject to my getting the whole crowd out of bed early enough to be there. Everybody needs to exchange cell phone numbers. Let's do this by email instead of posting them here. Terry
Terry, South Bend is now on Eastern time year round and always an hour later than Chicago, so it is on the same time as your Michigan lodging. There still are a couple of Indiana counties close to Lake Michigan that you'll pass through that are on Chicago time, but that's of no consequence. P.S. I will get on Mapquest and see if I can email a map to JO'Co et all on how to get from the Econo Lodge to some decent parking south of campus. I'm sure it's no surprise that neighborhood parking fees have gone up to $20. Who is handling tailgate duties this year? Be mindful that there is only one way to get into Joyce South, turning east on Angela off the main north-south road through SB, where St. Joseph HS is on the corner. If anyone has questions, let me know.
Terry let me know what to get I can go to the store in the morning before the tailgate or should I just surpriseyou........I can hardlywait to see you all I am so sad that Mike and Mary and Sid willnot be able to join us....... Next year we plan it around everyones schdules all men must check w/ spouses first to make sure no other commitments are done.... Got to go to work but cant wait to see you all D
Diane, You really won't be able to do that, you'll likely have to park quite a way from the tailgate and you don't want to have to carry a bunch of stuff. We'll take care of everything. If you have a request let me know!! I wonder if I can get Shiner Bock in South Bend!! Terry
Diane, isn't it ironic that two two people who live the closest are the ones who can't make it this year? For all those staying at the Econo Lodge I have a suggestion for parking that works well for anyone coming in from the west side of South Bend. Because I am techno-deficient, I'm not comfortable with trying to post the Mapquest link to the route from the Econo Lodge. It's very long, and when I experimented by emailing it to myself, it didn't work. Do this: Go on to Mapquest. Input the starting address (Econo Lodge) as: 3233 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628-1450. Input the ending address as: St. Vincent St. & Eddy St., South Bend, IN 46617. You will see a route that takes you through downtown South Bend onto LaSalle Street, across the river, onto northbound Hill Street, angling right onto South Bend Avenue, turning left onto Eddy Street, going about a block north to St. Vincent Street. What does not show up on the map is this: When you get to St. Vincent St., turn right and go about a block east to a lot on your left ($20). When you park here, you are about 2 blocks south of Angela and about as close as you can get to the Joyce South parking lot, where the tailgate is being held. It's also an easy way out after the game. Terry, if you are coming over from Benton Harbor super early (before 9:00 AM) to set up the tailgate, you shouldn't have a big problem on the toll road, but if you want an alternate non-toll road route that brings you in through the west side of South Bend let me know. If anyone wants more info or clarification of the above, my email address through the Skybox is current.
8) Just got off the phone after doing a double-check on the reservations. All is well The reservations are for 7 (and are in my name) we are in the bar area . Don't let the 7pm time throw you early arrivals will be seated. As my chauffer is driving in from Ohio I don't know what time we'lll be there. Damn Gip....was looking forward to seeing you and Mary! Then to add no Sid (and his hulking body-guard) it just won't seem the same.....but I'm certain we'll muddle through somehow
