No doubt this won't satisfy the "Pay Me" crowd. But I do think this is a long overdue change, and the next one is they need to pay the full cost of attendance...pens, pencils, printer paper, etc. Not just books/tuition.

Now I don't really feel sorry for Shabazz Napier who said he went to bed hungry because he couldn't afford food, it's his own fault. He could have made different choices such as living on campus where he would have eaten for free at all the UConn dining halls. Plus NCAA athletes get an allowance for their off campus housing and meals, I'm guessing it's a monthly check the athlete has to use wisely to pay for food/housing. I don't know of course what Napier did that caused him to not have enough to pay for his housing/meals but I suspect that he wasn't a good manager of his money. Possibly he used it to buy stuff he thought was cool or that he needed more than food. But never the less, the new ruling does seem to be a good one IMHO, it means that no matter what the kid can get 3 squares a day and snacks. I'm impressed that walkons also are included it certainly might be a boost to the walk on programs around the country in all sports.

    Food for athletes

Stu will be lobbying no doubt that band members are also going to bed hungry and should be included!! :)

Well, we'll see what our union has to say about it.
