So let's recap shall we? Believing that local governments should be the primary force in education and housing is "radical." Repealing an amendment is "radical." Prefering that Senators be elected by the process called for in the original Constitution is "radical." Wow, I bet advocation gun ownership and believing that forcing all Americans to by health insurance is unacceptable is also "radical." We have liberal politicians who actually try to ban large pop sales in their cities and left leaning folks don't blink an eye.
So you don't believe that the federal government has much purpose.... other than protection from foreign invasion, terrorism, poisionous food products, curbing and controlling national health disasters/outbreaks, etc etc. The list could get quite long. I look at the 1%..... and I find it ludicrous that anyone could believe we should just leave it up to individual states to ensure individual rights and well being as American citizens. With the personal greed that is running rampant in this country do you really think enough people that control the power and wealth would really give a rat's ass about anything other than exponential growth of their own personal fortune? Really man.....schools, transportation systems and housing..... you believe the governor of Michigan would lift a finger for anyone within 100 miles of Detroit and Flint or better yet would his broke ass receive any help from any other state in the union if it were to be all individual state's rights? Would Rick Scott of Florida even help the people in his own friggin state if he could redirect funds to the coffers of his personal and political friends and himself and get away with it?
No envy here George.... just a desire for my country to be the best it can be.... a government by the people and for the people.... not for a few individual fat cats. Check middle eastern governments that fail and you'll find the reasons they do is because the populace is isolated from wealth and very unhappy with their goverment's handling of their personal well being and opportunities for change. You quit spending money to ensure adequate affordable food supply, education, good health and provide access to adequate housing for the poor and middle class of this country and there is no country..... just anarchy and chaos. You truly believe individuals are up to the task? It's possible that my level of trust has been shot to hell over the past decade and since we are not all holed up in the mountain protecting our families with a rusty musket I understand that we do need our government and it's services because the rich guy on the top of that mountain just doesn't give a ****. I like our system of government and I think it has basically worked for 238 years.... which is amazing in and of itself. The most jeopardy that our system has been in over that span was when individual goals of wealth and personal greed ignored the common good of the country.... the Civil War and the recent near financial collapse on Wall Street. Now... all that said.... I don't have all that much trust for one far side or the other so the far left scares the hell out me too because they too have one-sided agendas. It's just time in this country that we all have the same objective and we work collectively and compassionately toward making this a great country again.
How do you know I didn't vote for Obama? You can paint me with the broad brush stroke of being radical right, but I can tell you with all certainty that I: -Am pro-choice. -Believe in the legalization of drugs. -Am pro gay equality across the board. -Believe in the expansion of food stamps and various social welfare programs to those deserving. -Believe in public education for the Arts. -Believe in the separation of church and state. -The Constitution of the United States, and the sanctity of the process that we are born under to both change and protect this living document. So go on.. tell me how I am a radical right wing zealot again?
a few additional things: And how are you planning on doing that, comrade? You're lucky if you find 3 people in an elevator who agree on the location of the door. People are different. We're all different. That's what makes us so great, or at least the promise of it. Also, Middle Eastern countries fail because they are, by and large, **** holes with nothing but oil wealth and very little in terms of resources. You give them freedom, and they light each other on fire over an argument over which story of Allah you want to believe.
