    Come on Mo !

You missed the Minnesota game tying TD !

How come you are not complaining about the no call ?

A big 6'6" wr like Wheelwright is allowed to push the defender away ??

You are slipping up BIGTIME !

    You should be doing laps!

    Bill,

Your comment about "game over..move on..etc.." is the same ole refrain from you and the problem I have with that is that it refuses to acknowledge the repercussions of losing an important game in a conference race or for the national title for that matter.

Sure ...your comment rings true for a team in the middle or bottom of the pack like a Kentucky or an Indiana but there is much...much more at stake for the nation's better teams that have higher aspirations.

Therefore...having the refs "get it right" takes on more importance than a simple..."game over...move on.." If they don't get it right it could be the difference between a BCS bowl and the Outback...so..that's what I mean.

Didn't see the game AJNJ so if the push really did occur the interference call very well could have been a make-up but why then did the Big Ten issue an apology?

I suspect the push wasn't blatant.

I know UF's Dallas Baker has been called a couple of times for a push in his career and neither time did it seem obvious. That call is really a judgement call most of the time...especially when the defender and WR are sparring for position.

I don't know where the officals draw the line, I see push offs all over the place when I watch college football that are never called.

After watching these ACC officals tonight in the BC/Va.Tech game, I'd have to say that you Gators should fear the game in Tallyville. The play I am just watching the offical was looking right at a kids feet when his foot came down out of bounds and and called it a good catch. How could he have not seen that?

"I don't know where the officals draw the line, I see push offs all over the place when I watch college football that are never called"

Inconsistency by the refs is rampant and very damaging in a game.
I don't understand why they get so inconsistent at times. If you allow one team to hold for example you sure as hell had better allow the other team to hold also. It's the judgement call type penalties like holding and offensive interference etc. that need to be one way..the entire game without variance.

In this year's Tenn-Fla game in the first half when a Tenn defender rushed the OL and entered the neutral zone a UF player flinched and UF was called for illegal procedure. In the second half a UF defender did the very same thing and was called for offsides...which was the correct call all night. The same ref just couldn't find it within himself to get the call right the first time when Tenn did it.

Yes..why do you think I hold the game at FSU to be a treacherous journey for Florida? FSU at home with ACC refs doing a UF-FSU game for the first time since their ripoff of 2004 in Gainesville.

How'd you feel if you were ND where Big 10 refs didn't call holding on your opponents but 2 times in 4 games while ND got called for something like 14. Think there might have been a grudge there? Everybody says you can call holding on almost every play, so how do your opponents not hold at all in 3 games and call 2 holds when they think the game is out of reach for the Irish against MSU.

What bothers me most about this is that teams make turnovers and penalties all the time. These are mistakes. Coaches call the wrong plays or defenses and have poor clock management. These are mistakes. Somehow, with all these mistake prone players and coaches on the field, we have fans who expect that the officials never make mistakes. It makes me laugh!

I would say that is an absolute atrocity Terry.

Holding is indeed very subjective most of the time and that does sound like B/S going on to me.

Somebody (Quality Control Ref??) needs to keep a count of these things and make the refs on the field aware that maybe...just possibly... the game is not being called consistently.

Uh Oh ACC refs at it again. BC player never controls a ball and drops it VaTech guy falls on it and the offical who is looking right at it calls it a completion. It was an awfull call. This crew should be fired, or maybe they are just practicing for the Gator game.

Gip you think ND opponents never being called for holding by B10 refs is just the breaks?

At least the refs can get a "do over" when wrong Gipper....if the rules are passed that would allow for it and there is a quality management system in place (did I hear..Quality Control ref mentioned??)

Are we talking now about mistakes or conference bias? In any event going 3 games in a row without holding is a statistical anomaly or evidence of conference bial.

We'll just write it up in the rules that the refs have to call the same number of offensive holding penalties on both teams, because since "holding can be called on almost every play" it stands to reason that the number of infractions HAS to be statistically equal...the quality and ability of the offensive line has nothing to do with it.

Also ignored in your assumptions would be the possible hypothesis that the B10 teams are more used to how the B10 refs tend to (and are instructed to) call holding so therefore ND has a bit more problems. OK...that would be another good argument for ND getting their own refs or lobbying to get non-conference refs, but I do reject all of your conspiracy theories.

So does everyone else here, Stu, even his fellow FL buddies. But it's his mantra. Without it he has no identity.

    " fellow FL buddies"

You mean "buddY"....one dissenting opinion does not constitute a mandate.

Go over on Florida message boards one day and see how most of us feel about things.

Actually, Sid, I disagree a bit with MCG but appreciate his point that the calls are important and it is an awful thing when an incorrect call throws an important game. I don't think that the officiating is as awful as he does, and I'm not sure his "super-reviewer" plan would solve the problem, but I appreciate his point.

The "conspiracy" theory I reject is the one put out by my good friend Terry, whom I suspect is mostly just trying to yank my chain.

If he thinks the games were being reffed incompetantly, fine...but I don't buy the "biased refs" conspiracy...the first three B10 games weren't even close and the holding penalties would have had no effect at all. The only B10 game where biased holding penalties might have swung the game against ND was the MSU game, and I believe that things were fairly normal in that game in terms in terms of what we are talking about. (I don't have the numbers, but if I'm wrong about this, I'm sure they will be posted very shortly.)

Light your Cigar Yes! Yank your chain??? Maybe! :)

Truthfully, the only game we lost had nothing to do with officiating and even with the bad officiating in the games we've played we've been able to overcome it and win..which is what you are supposed to do anyhow. :!: :!: :!:
