Thanks Bobda, The firing of Borges still strikes me as curious, but now with Nussmier in the fold it makes more sense. I think Borges got a raw deal. In fact, that's sort of been his calling card over the years. He goes into bad situations, does well, and then before he can see the fruits of his labors he gets whacked. He's been the fall guy many times before. The Michigan offense these past 2 years looked like good coaching to me. The bottom line is, the QBs weren't what you wanted/needed. The OL is still in recruiting transition back to what you'd expect at Michigan. Like at ND (not to "Gator" the thread), but Weis took a lot of fallout because after the 1st 2 years, our OL play was terrible. Weis did well with the older remaining players that were guys recruited by Davie. Ty Willingham recruited almost zero offensive linemen in his last 2 years and it showed in that bubble. I'm not familiar enough with M's recruiting to know the numbers, but in terms of quality, I'd be surprised if you're not seeing something similar. It just needs to work itself out.
Me too Don....I guess they are friends from their days with the Patriots. I wonder if Joel will joining the Texans as a fan now!
In an interesting move Todd Grantham the Georgia DCoord left to take a similar position at Louisville. No disrespect to Louisville but that seems like a move down or at best a Lateral move. Eddie O to Alabama along with Lane Kiffin is also a scratch your head situation. But with the track record that Saban has you have to figure he knows what he's doing. Charlie Strong has former UT great Vance Beford, his DCoord at Louisville as our new DCoord. Bobda will no doubt remember him from his stints at Michigan. Still nothing on the OCoord, Ohio State fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Tom Herman has supposedly taken his name off the table. Scott Frost is rumored to be a candidate, along with Shawn Watson (who doesn't make Texas fans excited for some reason), Chad Morris the Clemson OCoord however does excite Texas fans and his name is mentioned, he's a former HS coach in the Austin area. Texas fans are excited about maybe luring Joe Wickline the Ok State OL coach and maybe another former Longhorn and current Ok State coach in Van Malone will be coming as well.
DACOACHO TALKING 'CRUITIN ANDA TACKLIN' WIFFA DA TIIIDE! DACOACHO JOIN HIS WIDDLE FWEND DAKIFFIN! DACOACHO SEZ DACOACH NICK SAY NOMO MEDIA! DIS MAKE DACOACHO HAPPY! DACOACHO LUV 'CRUITIN, 'TACKLIN ANDA DA FISHIN! ROLLWILDBOYZ WIFFA DACOACHO!! ----------------------------- Oh back to English... I have no idea what I did to receive such a gift. I have no idea if these guys will work out, although I suspect if they can both stay out of trouble with the media, they will be fantastic hires for Alabama. Alabama's success has never given me pause from busting their chops and now the football gods have placed 2 of my favorite hanging curveballs right here in my wheelhouse...better than that, they're here in my local batting cage. You're all going to hate me, but I'm going to have a LOT of laughs while this lasts.
FSU DCoord has moved on to UGA. Big raise in salary. Coordinators all over are starting to make 700-800K, with the guy at Louisville making a cool million and I think Smart makes a million at Alabama. A few more years and Coordinators will be making what head coaches used to make.
While not official at this point, it appears Urban Meyers has found two defensive coaches to fill out his staff for the 2014 season. Larry Johnson Sr from Penn State and Chris Ash from Arkansaw. Both of these men are former Big Ten Coaches. Heres hoping we will much better in the defensive end this coming year. God knows we need improvement. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10292726/chris-ash-larry-johnson-sr-join-ohio-state-buckeyes-coaching-staff
Saban not done with staff revamping....their DB Coach left, so Kirby Smart moved from coaching LB'rs to DB's and he brought Kevin Steele off the the football support staff to coach LB. Kevin Steele has a lot of coaching experience, esp as a LB coach. To think he had a guy like that in a back office job, pretty amazing.
