Hi guys- I haven't posted in a while but I wanted to let you know that my father Victor Matous, passed away on Saturday afternoon, his final act was witnessing his beloved Irish (mine too) in their bowl victory in the Pinstripe Bowl. He passed away in comfort in the presence of all of his kids. I can't tell you how much he enjoyed this forum and that you to the moderators and particants (all good sports) that made this feel like home to him. He also directed me to the pearls of wisdom he read on this forum and I know he thinks of you as friends. Thanks so much for this forum and the classy people who participate here. Happy new year to all of you. The best, Greg Matous
Thanks Greg. Many of us felt the same way about your father. Tom was kind enough to let us know, the discussion of which can be found here if you want to see what he meant to us.
Greg, my deepest sympathy to you and your family on your father's passing. He was a good man. It was my privilege to know him. Sid Baker
Greg, Thanks for the post. Vic was a valuable and much appreciated member of this forum. We all go back a long way. My condolences to you and your family. Terry. Ps. If you haven't read the topic Tom started about losing another Skybox Member be sure and read that, some good stuff there about your dad.
Greg, Your father was a respected member of this forum going way, way back to the old Prodigy days if memory serves. More importantly, he was a great father and one hell of man. He will be missed here by all of us. My sincerest condolences to your family.
Greg, I reached out to your dad on Facebook and was/is one of his Facebook friends. I found the announcement of his death and carried that news to the good people here. The amazing part I saw in this man is that I never saw him speak out in anger, never saw him making derogatory comments, and never once as a moderator did I see anything that needed moderation from your father. He only made 614 posts since he joined theskybox in 2000. But we could count on 100% of those posts to be interesting and delivered with class. R.I.P. vicm Your Skybox status has been raised to a newly created status that will be applied to one other past member: Retired VIP. It will be assigned to passing members in the future.
Greg, sorry to hear about your dad. But thanks for letting us know. Like some others I remember him from the old Prodigy days. May his memories be with you for a long time.
Thanks for posting, Greg. Your dad was a special guy and he is missed here by his electronic family...
Thanks for the linked thread. My dad laughed quite a bit at the witty stuff posted by people on this forum. Thanks to all of you for being his friend. I've attached the address to his obituary if any of you are interested. Thanks..... http://www.becksfuneralhome.com/obituary.php?id=1812 [/url]
Thanks for that link to the obiturary...reading that obit just confirmed what we all knew, Vic was an extraordinary guy. RIP.
Greg, thank you for the link to Vic's obituary. He had an amazing life. He personified the Greatest Generation. He served as an example to us all because of his character and love of the important things in life.....God, family, and Notre Dame.
Greg, Thank you for providing the link to your father's obituary so that we could read in detail about his remarkable life. Like many of his great generation, your Dad was very understated when discussing his life on this board but it was obvious from his posts that he was a person of great depth and wonderful humor. My condolences to your family and you for your loss.
Married a girl from the Detroit area, just like me. A lawyer, a commercial pilot and an FBI agent. Incredible, impressive life. He wasn't just a member of the Greatest Generation he was one of the members who made his generation great.
