Notre Dame now leads in total winning percentage for the last 144 years! Michigan had enjoyed the top spot until the recent bowl games. The Irish now have the lead since Michigan lost to Kansas State last night. Now I want you Notre Dame fans to remember who provided this information! http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin/records/calc-wp.pl?start=1869&end=2012&rpct=30&min=5&ss=on&se=on&by=Win+Pct
One of the ESPN announcers at the BWW game mentioned that late in the 4th quarter maybe around the time when Kansas State was getting ready to punt for the first time all game. My wife and my four-legged best friend were smart enough to go to bed at half time. I am trying to figure out this morning the mental affliction I have that compelled me to to watch that football euthanasia to the bitter end.
It took quite a while to reclaim the title following the Daveyham era. Looking at our schedule for next year I would suggest than we enjoy it while we can.
Gif, I don't know why but I would have been surprised if you had not commented on this topic! Our schedule provoked a lot of people this year, so I will not comment.
Hey next year we play Stanford, Florida St., Arizona St., Louisville, and USC. And just like you we play Mich., Purdue and take on Northwestern. For JIF we play Navy.
ND played 9 teams that are in bowl games his year including the B10 and P12 conference champions with the Irish beating the B10 champs. Penn State played only 6 teams this year that were invited to bowl games.
I honestly didn't think we'd reclaim that spot after the DaviWilliWeis era. We had some real gut wrenching (by our standards) seasons. The DickRod years were leaner than they should have been for Michigan. It just goes to show you (and Texas fans may want to note this) that you're just 1 coach away from disaster. For every Nick Saban, there's 3 dozen Willinghams each year.
There was a time when we were very close to them in total wins as well, I think we had it down to something around a 5 game difference. But then the Faust Years and the post Holtz years during which UM was very consistent 8-10 win team
