Don I wouldn't be surprised to see a high scoring game something like the Michigan game. I don't think Clemson has a great defense, certainly nothing like Michigan State.
Would much rather have seen OU vs. Clemson and then OSU vs. Bama. Both games would benefit from the match-up. Now you have the serious potential for Utah-Louisville Syndrome..... a terrible affliction that infects a superior team with a lackadaisical laisse-faire approach to an opponent that has just the reverse I-can't-wait-to-beat-your-ass attitude. Good luck ridding your team of that disease Buckeyes and Tide.
Seriously? When we've got that do-no-wrong coach that you are always lauding? Seriously, though...I expect that our guys will be ready to play.
Meyer is a good bowl coach.... that's the thing that may save OSU in this one. Otherwise I am quite certain that the Clemson fan base and team are damned excited to be in the OB playing Ohio State whereas the complete opposite is true for the Buckeyes. Frankly I don't see how the Tigers even got there. On paper OSU should beat them handily...... but that is the nature of the U-L Syndrome.... 8)
I still haven't even seen the bowl lineup other than the Bama and Auburn games. I gotta get caught up.
There are some good matchups... The Cotton Bowl with Missouri and Oklahoma State will be a great game. I agree though that OU is way overmatched in that matchup with Bama. It would have been better for Clemson/OU and Ohio State/Bama but that's not the way things work. Wisconsin vs South Carolina should be a good bowl as well. Pac12 fans should enjoy another massacre at the Alamo Bowl of their favorite patsy..Texas. Mack can play Col Travis and Helfrich can be Santy Ana...wooden leg and all.
LOL Oregon is a weird team. If they show up mentally, the Horns could be in a lot of trouble. That's a big IF though. They haven't proven to be mentally tough in a while.
Duke vs. A&M? Cutcliff is an old Tennessee Offensive coordinator. He has Duke playing at the top of their game. Don't expect to see a repeat of the Tennessee vs A&M cotton bowl but Duke should be a tough opponent. A&M victory is all but guaranteed but still should be an exciting game.
Aggies mired in a 2 game losing streak where Johnny Football hasn't worked any magic. Maybe it's because he's injured or maybe DCoord have figured out how to hold him down. I would expect A&M to be favored and win the game, but it might be a shoot out.
I'd rather play Rutgers in the Pinstripe bowl than Louisville....I don't like the match up we give them and don't want to give them the pleasure of beating two teams from Florida consecutively.... I had to laugh thinking about Clemson playing in the Orange bowl. They will probably have more fans attend at the O bowl than Miami would if it was playing there....Kinda sad.... Don't discount Duke, they will make it a game and the ONLY thing separating them from everyone else is talent, they already have heart and great coaching. I understand the conference affiliations to certain bowl games but wouldn't it be nice to see a little spice added to the bowl games where you didn't know one year in advance that Wisconsin would be playing in a bowl game in Orlando...Just saying...
Well I'm still reading "insider" stuff that says the Saban deal is still on, that he has closed on a 6M house in Austin. Mack is done, buyout is generous, yada yada yada. Oh and I don't remember if I posted this but Mack's friend and big time Attny Joe Jamail has said Mack is not done coaching that he's been fielding inquires from Major programs as to whether Mack would be interested.
Ralph I can tell you now that I think beating Louisville in the bowl game would be a very nice win for Miami. UF proved last year that playing the Cardinals in Jan. doesn't just represent an extension of spring practice.
Lol, I hear you on the extension of spring practice....They are very tough and read that 28 players on the team are from Florida. If we beat them I would be very happy, it should be a pretty good ball game to watch. I'm not sure our secondary is ready for the former Cane recruit Bridgewater. Getting 10 wins would be a great step in the right direction.
We have so many bowls now that everybody gets to go to one somewhere. I always read how important it is for the team to get the extra practice that the bowl allows. I really wonder how much this means for teams that play the early bowls and only get 10 extra practices? If you are playing in the later bowls I guess you get more practice and maybe that makes a difference the next Sept. But I wonder if it really does?
I have always heard that its the extra practices the coaches covet even more than the bowl game itself...I didn't consider the difference in the number of practices though, I believe Miami gets 18 for the Russell Athletic bowl on top of that $450 Best Buy card of course...
