Typical weather in Detroit.... must be near the holidays... 8) Sitting in my shorts and t-shirt down here in the Tampa Bay area... windows open and expecting a high of a balmy 84 today..... just so ya know....
Ah heck Joel, I meant to post that on the Ohio State topic where you said that Wanda misunderstood your taunting..or ball busting! It was a funny followup to that as you have busted my balls a number of times, still do..it's my secret defense! And you wonder why your dental bills are so high!!
 e: Brendan He's looking at small colleges or walking on at Northern Arizona. I don't know if I want him to keep playing football. After his final game where he led Damien to their huge upset of preseason #1 Chino Hills, he spent several days in the hospital, because there was a lot of blood in his urine. He was born with a genetic kidney disease that puts cysts on his kidneys and those burst when he gets sacked. As far as I'm concerned, he has nothing left to prove in football and he's a good student, so I think he should just move on. Football is fun, but it's not worth risking your life...
Very good win by the Irish today. Nice to see the O line dominate. There were some young kids like Steve Elmer a freshman who is going to be a really good one. Folston is the real deal. Jarron Jones came from nowhere to be a force today. Things are looking up.
ND <t>Defiantly a great game for the defense. Holding BYU to 13 is no small feat. both the D and O line looked good to me. Nice Senior day win. 200+ yds rushing.... good stuff. BYU was advertised as a physical team....ND was better. <br/> <br/> Nice win.</t>
Solid win for the Irish, the weather wasn't that much of a factor as BYU is very used to this type of weather...maybe more so than the Irish. Solid game by the OL, 250yds rushing the most of the year. Both McDaniel and Folston played very well hitting the holes fast and with some power. Tommy made some great throws, that int was a case of he needed to put some air under that so that only Nikklas could get at it. But the defense erased that mistake. Tommy finished on a high note as did all those Sr's. Defense, where the hell has that kid Jones been? Awesome game all around, Carlo and Foxy had great games, the DB's did a good job in coverage. Jaylon Smith another awesome game. They really kept Tayson Hill in check. BYU stats looked similar to the Irish but the defense didn't let them score. Kyle Brindza...pressure kick and he makes it. Long, wind swirling, everybody knows the ball doesn't go as far with the temp so low..at least a golf ball doesn't go as far. Yet he pounds it through with room to spare and that was huge, put it back to a 2 score game. I really was worried about this game, BYU had the type of QB who has given us a lot of problems. The weather was no big deal to BYU, wouldn't you have loved to see a Southern/ACC squad in this weather!! Excellent win.
I was cold watching the flapper hats on the analyst...I agree it is not fair that southern teams do not experience weather such as this...Bring it on...
8) 1. Notre Dame can now win the 12Pac by beating Stanford. 2. Jarron Jones was amazing. For a guy who couldn't find a way into the starting lineup, he certainly has arrived with a bang. He's only a sophomore, so the future of the DL looks good. 3. Wonderful performance by the OL; especially substitute center Matt Hegarty. He was another guy who waited his turn. With Hegarty, Ronnie Stanley, Steve Elmer, Conor Hanratty, and Nick Martin, the Irish OL is set for years. 4. Folston and McDaniel are turning into a formidable inside/outside combination. 5. BYU has a LB named Kyle Van Noy who has just killed every opponent the last two years. He's one of the best in the country, but I didn't hear his number called all day. He got blocked...
The word on Jarron Jones was that he didn't play against very good competition in Rochester NY and it's taken him awhile to get acclimated to higher level of competition. He's got the physical part at 6'5" and 300lbs. You are right about the OL, and we have our best class of OL coming in the class of 2014 in a long time. Some real studs in that class. If the coaches can close on some of the LB's that they are recruiting for the inside...Nyle Morgan esp...then this will be an awesome class even without a RB.
Jarron Jones may help us get over Louis Nix faster than we hoped. The recruitment of Kyle Van Noy is outlined in the book The System I am reading. He was a troubled kid, practically a street kid who was fostered, who Mendenhall really put it on the line for. He has had a fabulous career ay BYU but yesterday Troy Nicklas and Ben Koyack owned him in individual matchups. One play I happened to focus in on, Koyack straightened Van Noy up in open space and ran him almost 12 yards downfield. I said it a couple of weeks ago, I'll say it again. Conor Hanratty may be the best run blocker on the team. His legs never stop driving. Tuitt is unstoppable at this point. We are really going to miss him. Tommy Rees will cause you to throw things at times but he has kept this team's head above water when all else failed. And when he steps into hsi throw he tosses a very nice ball.
More good news...Jarron Jones is a RS Freshman! Also, I didn't hear it on TV but apparently at the end of the game the crowd was shouting Tommy, Tommy, Tommy...very cool. Hey Sid did Brian and the kids last till the end?
