I think Miller is vastly improved over last year. He is playing wityh much better footwork and field vision. Of the current favorites, I like McCarron. And I really like his girlfriend...
Terry, Not nearly as much, but there are some plays designed for him to run, or an occasional breakdown, and he is forced to run. George, I wonder how McCarron keeps his mind on football??
If Johnny Football has a great game in Baton Rouge this weekend I wonder if he'll jump into the top spot in the Heisman? He has great stats if you want great stats. While I'm not big on him getting a 2nd Heisman, 1 is enough, and I'd like to see Mariota or McCarron get it this year..but he's got a shot with his last 2 games vs LSU and Missouri. It all sets up well for him. Now he just has to do it.
McCarron will not win. Manziel probably has it sewed up, although Winston may sneak in, if he is not in jail.
I think I'm on board with KP here. It could all get blown up in a weekend, but right now he's the guy week in and out.
There is now a DNA Match between Winston and "fluids" found on the victims underwear. Add that to the reports that the Tally Police intimidated her from filing charges and he's in a heap of trouble. Although he's innocent till proven guilty of course, but the publicity has to have ended his Heisman candidacy. If I'm a Heisman voter no way would I vote for the kid while all of this hangs over his head. I wouldn't want to see the Trophy vacated (again) should he be charged and convicted. Rape/Sexual Assault is serious business and sad business, if he did it I hope he's convicted if he didn't and it's a case of day after regret then it's too bad no real consequences will come to the accuser. Recently a Montana (I think) QB was accused/charged and went to trial and exhonerated..but it cost him a lot, his last season and most likely his reputation.
If it weren't for that rape charge hanging over his head you could just put Jameis Winston down for the Heisman Trophy. But it is and unless the Fla State Attny clears him this week he's not going to win it. I don't know who is going to win it. It was AJ McCarrons to lose and he made the 99yd TD throw to win the Auburn game...but it didn't hold up. Maybe he'll still win it. The Boston College RB who has had such a great year, didn't have much of a game vs Syracuse and got injured and BC lost to the 'Cuse. So that wasn't a finish that would excite the voters. I have to wonder if Carlos Hyde will get a late surge, you can certainly make a case that he might be as good as the Williams kid from BC or maybe better and he did have a monster game vs Michigan. We know that Manziel is out, Petty is out, Mariota is out,...it's going to be a real surprise whoever it is that wins.
For supporters of AJ for Heisman, he had his "Heisman moment" if you believe in that, in the same game in which his three-pete hopes were put almost out of reach. Now, one of the things that has been used to support his candidacy was that he just wins, baby. So does the loss hurt him in their eyes? One of the things that has been used to calm discussions of his candidacy down was that team losses don't matter if the candidate didn't contribute to the loss. So does the pass help him in their eyes? hmmm...at least it'll be interesting to watch!
You know with all of the negativity, I really would like for the Heisman to go to someone besides McCarron. Not many people have much good to say about him. :? Now as for me, I am really, really glad that he is Alabama's qb. I would not want to trade him for any, and I mean ANY, other qb in the country.
I can't imagine anything negative about AJ. Those who don't think he is deserving simply don't know the game as well as they think they do. I have no idea what this BS about "system" QB is supposed to mean. It seems to me to be a pasive-aggressive way to demean a kid's performance on the field. I say BS to that BS. I don't care who gets the award, but I expect AJ to be no lower than a close second in the voting and a very strong possibility to win.
You can't count me in the negative A.J.McCarron crowd. I like him as as QB. I think if the Irish had him this year we'd have had a shot at being undefeated.
Since nobody else has posted it yet, Winston will not be charged in this case. That seems to me to be the clincher in the eyes of the voters.
Yeah, he's had a great year as a QB and now that he's in the clear on this the Heisman will most likely be his.
