FAA allows electronic device usage on planes..

    not cell phone calls...thank god for that. I can't imagine how bad flying would be sitting next to somebody yammering nonstop to their friend/significant other/boss/underling/gramma/etc. But I'm glad I can use my tablet now from gate to gate.

    Can we finally just do away with the Patriot Act and all of that nonsensical post-911 legislation/regulation?

    If it was oh so simple my faith in our government would be restored. There have been too many "governmental kingdoms" built on the foundation of the patriot act. And once the "cat is out of the bag" it is never going back in... :x

    Was interesting watching the Boston to Atlanta flight crew (Delta) read the new procedures for the new electronics rules. Best part was at the end of the flight - "we hope you enjoyed using your devices as much as we enjoyed not having to tell you to turn them off!"

    I was on two United flights on Thursday and they were still making us turn off all electronic devices for take off and landing.
