1. lots of bad games. 2. I don't know if you guys saw this, I didn't I went to bed, but I watched the replay last night. Stanford absolutely destroyed what seems to be a pretty good Arizona State team. Say what you want about the finish with Wisconsin, but you can't argue that ASU and Wisconsin looked like 2 evenly matched teams with different strengths. Stanford just took ASU apart like they were playing a mid-level FCS team. That's kinda scary. Also, unlike the vast majority of teams actually playing FCS teams, Stanford took their foot off the gas. They are holding back at this point. That doesn't bode well for the P12 and ND down the road. 3. ND beats Michigan State in the Outhouse Bowl. 4. Alabama still looks stout even when sleep walking. 5. Texas won and Nick Saban said no, because life is cruel Texas fans. 6. Clemson won with a tip of the cap to the ACC's finest. I was relieved to see that Clemson still has the ability to 'Clemson' when no one is looking. 7. LSU.. I'm not sure what the hell is going on here, but it looks like LSU has an offense. Miles is chewing on some voodoo grass down there. 8. God damn you Michigan.. we know you're blue collar with the return of Hoke but you're really starting to piss me off. 9. Florida fans get their wish, Tennessee fans are disheartened because they are still a few players away from being SEC elite. 10. Breaking Bad is still amazing.
ZZZZZzzzzz, the Notre Dame vs Michigan St game was the only worthy event all weekend. Pac 12 continues to amaze even without the East Coast media giving much coverage as usual. Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, Washington leading the way.. Playing FCS teams should be outlawed, its just fugly...The 4th Qtr of the Miami game was shortened to 12 minutes and we ran off the right tackle 220 times in a row just to kill the ugly beast of a game...Golden said he's been on the receiving end too many times while coaching Temple and just wanted it to end. Alabama vs Oregon looks almost inevitable 4 weeks in but we'll see what Stanford says about that. By the way is the championship game played in the Rose bowl this year??
That goodness that Cupcake Saturday has passed. I'll miss Breaking Bad almost as much as I miss Golston.
1. No doubt it's a good year so far for the Pac12. Washington looks good along with UCLA, Oregon and Stanford. That's the good news. The bad news for you Pac12 fans is that because you guys play a round robin schedule you are going to most likely knock each other off during the season or in your championship game. 2. Texas lost David Ash, again, to concussion like symptoms. There is a lot of information on 2nd concussion syndrome and it's not good. Behind him is nobody, so if he doesn't recover with the bye week it's going to be grim going forward. Texas also lost their best defensive player in Jordan Hicks for the season. 7-5 is looking like a good year for Texas. It seems set in stone at this point that Mack is going to step down at the end of the season. I don't think he wants to but I don't think he has any choice. Too much turmoil around him and the staff and it is hurting the program. 3. Alabama still looks like a #1 team to me, they dispatched CSU with ease and didn't break a sweat. A.J.McCarron is having a great year, the OL lost a lot and will be better later in the year and then you'll see the return of the power running game. Maybe they aren't as good as last years team, but they are still very good. 4. I'll give the hat credit, everybody thinks he's a doofuss and can't coach. Except that every year he wins a lot of games. He has a good QB and the new OCoord, the well traveled Cam Cameron, seems to be a good fit. LSU defense looks like LSU defense. They will be a team to be reckoned with and they have the big games necessary to rise to the #1 position if they win them. 5. Gators, awesome defense...not so much on offense. The Dawgs look to me like the team that will win the East again this year. They have an excellent Sr. QB and great RB's. 6. ACC...it looks like FSU will be the team this year, but Clemson and Miami will not be easy games for them. With a freshman QB they are going to be prone to the upset though. 7. Mich...I'm shocked that Gardner and the Mich offense have played so poorly against weak competition. I thought they had a decent chance of facing Ohio State undefeated. I thought Gardner would be a Heisman Candidate by then. But even as poorly as they have played against Akron and UConn, they are still undefeated. 8. Ohio State, looking more and more like they will run the table. I don't believe that Wisc is as good as their dismantling of Purdue would make people believe. Ohio State will beat them by 2 or 3 scores. 9. Louisville looking like it will run the table. Here is where the current system is going to piss off a lot of people. I think it's likely that no Pac12 team makes it through the season undefeated and I do believe that either Ohio STate or Louisville will do so and one of those will jump the entire Pac12 and play the winner of the SEC Championship game for the BCS championshp. Pac12 could easily make a case that there teams played a tougher schedule than either OSU or Louisville and deserve to be in the game. But the system won't let them. If we had the 4 team playoff then we'd see them in the mix, but not this year.
As good as they have looked so far Oregon they have a streak of very tough games starting with @Wash, WSU, UCLA, @Stanford...that will be a tough slate to get through. WSU, Wash, UCLA are all better than last year and Stanford who beat them at Autzen last year is as good or maybe better. It takes some luck to go undefeated, and a little more luck when you have a tough stretch of games like that.
IC1. Yes, lots of bad games. IC2. As I posted on your FB, I don't think there's a better defense in the country than Stanford. They were surgically destroying ASU in the first half, then came out in the third quarter coasting, and still were an effective unit until Shaw took out the starters at the end of the third. Stanford's offense may not be as good as it was last year, but it still looked like it would wear most people down with the grind. IC3. That was a FUGLY game. Not as fugly as UF/UT, but definitely near the top for the weekend. IC4. Alabama, Mark 3 is not as tough as Mark 2 from last year, but right now I don't see more than a handful of teams that would give them too many problems. Although, I don't see them making it through the season undefeated. IC5. Did you see the hit by the guy who replaced the LB that was tossed for targeting? He made sure not to go to the upper head, but the QB definitely took a shot to the lower one. Ouch. IC6. Clemson looks very good to me. They have finally matured so they may not have their scratch-your-head loss this your. What am I saying, of course they will! IC7. Freaking hat. They better lose at least one. IC8. How good is Michigan? Not that good. IC9. Ugh. TO1. PAC-12 no longer plays a true round-robin schedule. They did while they were the PAC-10, where a nine-game conference schedule would allow that. However, now that they are at 12 teams, an eleven-game conference schedule is no longer tenable. However, they DO still play a tougher conference schedule than the other 14-team conferences that only play 8-game schedules. Each PAC-12 team plays two home and home series against each of the non-divisional schools twice every six years (i.e. - they play four times against each non-divisional school every six years) in addition to their in-division opponents in full round-robin every year. Compare this to the others, that play one home and home series against their non-division opponents once every eight years (i.e. - they play twice against each non-divisional school every eight years). The larger conferences, with fewer conference games, definitely get to boast their tough conference, but when you duck half of your conference every year, there's a big difference in reality. TO8. OSU has the schedule to go undefeated and really not be tested. If they don't go undefeated, they won't sniff the BSCG. TO9. Another team that has an easy path to an undefeated season, and my opinion is if they make their entire schedule look easy with style, they will be given a chance in the BSCG against OSU if both the SEC and PAC champions have one (or more) losses. Ugh. KK10. OMFG, that helmet is BAD, SICK, and neither in a good way.
Yes that is fair. Buckeye Nation will not argue w MCG because...well just because. Hard to stay classy sometimes.
Scott. I am looking for some vinyl flooring for my basement and kind of like the design on the VT helmet.
 re: 12Pac Everyone out here agrees that the top of the conference is: 1. Stanford 2. Oregon 3. UCLA 4. Washington - I regard Stanford as far and away the best team on the Irish schedule. - Both Oregon and UCLA have enough speed to beat anyone on a given day. - Washington may be a step behind the other three, but is still very dangerous. Some questions about the others will be answered this weekend. Arizona State and USC look good on paper, but the Trojans have underperformed and ASSU has played only one quality opponent. They play each other in Tempe, AZ on Saturday, so that should end some arguments... Wazoo (3-1) is the biggest surprise in the West. Everyone thought they were a year away, but their only loss was a close one at Auburn and they have a road win over USC at the Coliseum. They host Stanford on Saturday after almost upsetting them down on the Farm last year. If Wazoo shocks Stanford...all the eggs will be scrambled in the West... http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2013/sep/24/first-look-washington-state-vs-stanford/ Another revealing tilt will be Arizona @ Washington in Seattle. Both teams are undefeated. If one of these teams is ready to move up, we'll know which one after Saturday. Both are very fast and both have had major recent upgrades in facilities, recruiting and coaching...
If Wazzu gets the miracle win against stanford, we sure as hell better break into the top 25. Although, i am still in the camp that our close loss to auburn and win against usc had just as much to do with those two teams being down as it does to wsu improvement. Dont get me wrong, the cougs have made huge strides, but i dont see 8 wins on our schedule. Even with our defense being a really good defense and surprisingly, what is carrying us thus far.
Hokie Stone is a real stone, quarried close to the Va.Tech campus and used in a lot of building on campus...even in statues...
