Cindy and I have been away from home since 5-Sept. We came to Tennessee for three purposes. #1 was the family reunion on my mother's side on 8-September. #2 was a business conference for Cindy in Nashville from 19-Sept to 21-Sept. #3, and most interesting, was a interview Cindy had at a hospital in Maryville, Tennessee for a Director of the ER position.

The move had our interest. We weighed many factors:
    • Proximity to UT games - Pro
Proximity to family - Pro for all but one member
Speed limits in Tennessee - Con to the 10th power
Percentage of blue haired drivers in Tennessee - Con to the 100th power
Pier and beam home construction vs slab foundation - Con

I have a position with Applied Materials that allows me to work from anywhere in the US as long as there is an airport I can get to in a reasonable time frame.

After a lengthy discussion weighing our options, we decided that we would stay in Texas.

We are now at the Gaylord Hotel, formerly Opryland Hotel, in Nashville and relaxing before her conference starts tomorrow. Our house is on the market but that was decided before the opportunity in Tennessee popped up. We are looking to find a house with a 5+ car garage. Hope our house has a contract on it before we get back.

:D Have a great time.... Texas is closer to Ca anyway. We are in escrow on a house now. I am a wreck we have lived her for 33 years Jim is happy as a lark if you want to check it out adres 21266 Colombard Way Apple Valley Ca it is about 15 min from Jims school. and has no yard so.... first on the agenda is a pool and patio he promised. .... then to make it our own... No mini tanks or cannons will be allowed so no civil war reinactments allowed but we will be closer to Vegas. .. Approx closing is 10/9

Hey great news Diane. Tom, I've only been to Austin once but found it to be a very vibrant city. It's a power center.
Looks like I'm heading to Texas next month. Mary has a meeting in Dallas the weekend of the ND-ASU game at Jerryworld. What a gal.

Tom, it's nice that Cindy has that opportunity, but it's also nice that you like where you live enough to stay there.

Diane, I scoped your new home on Google. Very nice looking house! What do you mean no yard? You have a nice circular yard in the front, symmetrically surrounded by stone.

I also checked the distance from your current home to the new house. 60 miles, a little over an hour. Is all of the green area (San Bernadino Forest) the San Gabriel mountain range? You've said in the past that Jim has to drive through the mountains to get to his school. Where on the map is the school?

(Tom, I apologize for hijacking the thread, but it's only temporary.)

New furniture. new pool new patio... Ok I am set plus money we will be saving will send us back to South Bend for a game next year of course we don't have Toms 5 car garage but we have room to add space for another

I found Hesperia Jr. High School on Cypress, just north of Willow. Your new house is actually north of the school. I recall you mentioning the El Cajon Pass, where Jim got stuck at least once because of the snow. A map doesn't show the change in altitude. This certainly will be a huge positive change for both of you. Congratulations, and good luck on the move.

When we moved to Indy after 35 years in Ft. Wayne and raising 3 kids, I couldn't believe how much we had accumulated. It was not an easy move, but we got through it. So will you.

    Going out junkyard hunting today.

There was an airplane crash back in the 60's in the field behind my grandparent's house. It was a small twin engine plane and I rode my bicycle through that field just before the crash. As I put the kick stand down to walk into the house, the plane clipped the trees in the lot beside the house and came to rest in flames about 100 yards from that point. It was a foggy morning and the assumption was made that the string of lights at the Ford dealership at the other end of that field was mistaken as being runway lights when the runway was actually about 2 miles away.

I received a information the wreckage was taken to a specific junkyard in Nashville where the FAA extended it's investigation then left the wreckage there in the yard.

I don't know why I have the need to find it, just know it can be found and want to.

Really, really nice home Mrs. JoCo. Congrats!

Corey, suspect that the LAPD closed the file on Elvira years ago so if a skeleton is unearthed when your Mom and Dad go through three decades of storage, you probably have nothing to worry about.

:D George actually I don't know yet it depends on the room selects for his office we will have 2 extra bedrooms and helipad soon to have a tree in the middle of it. but I am sure with all the dirt in the backyard there is plenty of room. for you to land. I am getting excited .. cant wait to see how this all ends up.. I will be making changes don't want it to look like all the other houses.
