David Ash to sit, Case McCoy to start. Rumors of the AD, Deloss Dodds retiring at end of season, Mack Brown to step down, new DCoord in Greg Robinson who hasn't had a good defense in 10 years...not much drama around this game. Oh yeah Ole Miss thinks we ran it up on them at their place last year and wants revenge. That about sums it up, just another day in the hood for Texas fans. Oh and for those who like stats Texas is 2-5 in games in which Case McCoy throws more than 15 passes.
Texas fans more convinced than ever that Nick Saban will leave Alabama for Austin at the end of the season. 10 million a year and of course Austin is a much better place to live than Tuscaloosa right? I've never been to Tuscaloosa so I have no idea of course whether or not it's a really great place to live or not. Austin definitely is one of the best places in the country. My brother tells me that Austin Sports Radio talks non stop about our Ath Director Deloss Dodds resigning at the end of the season and taking Mack with him. On the short list for new Ath Director is Jack Swarbrick.
Because Shifty Nick has made so many moves in his life..... that move to Texas wouldn't suprise me. He has nowhere to go at Alabama but down but of course that is because he has reached a coaching pinnacle there .
If I remember correctly Nick doesn't have a poison pill in his Alabama Contract either. I think their AD addressed it when his name came up (again) regarding moves. From a 2009 article:
I suspect the Bammers will match any offer... so it will have to be more than money. Also... can you imagine when ESPN walks in and says "Hey Nick... we get access to all your practices and meetings, and you have to be a game-show host several times a week on the LHN." No way Saban is going for that no matter how much money they hold under his nose.
(Hmmm, I wonder if Doc would be interested in betting a BAPP for an genuine autographed picture of Crazy Horse that I purchased at a souvenir store in Deadwood....Still surprised that they used Sharpies back in the 1870s).
Deadwood, wasn't that a HBO Series? BTW: Of course as a Diretv subscriber I couldn't watch the LHN...but Dead Coach Walking
No, no he has not. I understand that this may be difficult for you to understand, but he's still got a way to go. If he steps down right now, he'll still be #2 to The Bear and Nick doesn't strike me at this point in time of his career as a guy who likes to be #2... Or who is into rebuilding... The ONLY thing that I could say might possibly sway him to Austin, would be a pending NCAA hammer. In terms of cities, Tuscaloosa is a 'better than you think' college town but that's entirely around the school. The rest of the city is kinda shitty. There's absolutely no comparing T'town to Austin. Austin is one of the better cities in America period.. However, it has that status for a lot of reasons that Nick Saban doesn't give 2 shits about.. I could see his wife being swayed though.
Terry, stranger things have happened. I can't imagine why he would go but who knows. That whole conference could dissolve. That might be one disincentive. I don't know. The NCAA thing could cause him to leave as well. I think he could probably go anywhere he wanted to at this point.
