UF #19........ Tenn unranked ..... but I still think the game deserves a topic of it's own and in fact it has been selected as the CBS game of the week next Sat. in the 3:30 time slot. Oregon proved to be as strong as they looked.... and with the results as they were out in Eugene I will stay with my original analysis based on those kinds of results and predict a relatively unexciting Gator win by 9 points....... which is "running up the score" in the Will Muschamp era. Muschamp pulls out all the stops and turns that offense loose for a romp and UF blasts the Vols.... 23-14.
I'll be interested to see how this one plays out. Did the Vols suffer any bad injuries at Oregon? I could see UT pulling this one out. The week of rest has to help the Gators, and the travel has got to hurt the Vols a bit. Still, there's something that tells me they could nab this one if they don't screw the pooch.
He'll panic at the first Driskell turnover, and shut it down again. On paper this looks like a Gator win, but it's football so you never know. [/code]
At this point I am not sure the Gators are ever safe in any game. Terrific defense but the fun and gun is long gone.
Next week the Vol defense get's to rest up from that track meet out on the west coast... I hear the Gator offense is practicing hard on that redzone 2 point offense Kp.
Do the Gators have a backup QB who is pushing Driskell? Hard to tell how a beat down like the Vols got at Oregon affects the next game. As long as they came out healthy, it could end up have little or no effect or the beatings will continue till they improve. I would think though that since the Gators don't have D'Anthony Thomas or Marcus Marriotta type players that the Vols will be able to defend themselves a little better. But Gator defense will prevail at the Swamp. I'd say Gators 24 Vols 13
I would say if Florida wins by 14 points that Jones will snub Muschamp for the midfield post game handshake because Will would be perceived as RUTS>
Terry, no backup QB that is threatening Driskel. But we have a highly thought of recruit with a verbal, Will Grier. If Driskel was to get injured we would be in a heap of trouble.
I expect that the Gators will pretty much shut out the Vols, but what will be interesting is how many points the Gators can put up on the Vols after the 59 at Oregon and Oregon stopped trying after the 3rd qtr.
I tried this on the Oregon game in my money contest and it didn't bring the desired result. However, with maximum points on Oregon I won the weekly payout in that contest and took the overall lead. I now have maximum points on Florida in hopes of paying those points for a Tennessee win!
Hope you are right Don. I feel better with Jones at the helm than i did with Dooley but we have a long way to go before we are legitimate contenders. Either that or the Ducks could beat any NFL team.
I have lost confidence in Jones. To give a frosh his first start on the road at the swamp is moronic at best. You've got some splainin' to do Butchy.
What I say is I am always happy with a win over an SEC team. Especially when we had to go with a QB who had never started a game before. In fact I don't think he ever had any significant playing time. I thought he looked pretty good. And our defense will keep us in most games. But I will take the win.
Well that answers the question about the Gators backup. Granted, I could only watch this while flipping from the other game, but the issue to me with Tennessee looks like they are a QB and about 4 players shy. The Gators just had more athletic talent, and the Vol QB just killed them on some reads. The Gators did what they had to do in a rivalry game, you can't find fault in that.
