While a some of those are unique to Ohio (OSU, Browns, aviation, etc.), many of them are typical of the midwest in general (restaurant choices, vernacular, etc.). As a Midwesterner, I identified with several.
I'm a native Buckeye. I get back there a couple times per year. I will comment: #1 No doubt #5 Yahoo! Its Mountain Dew. That is the Johnnie Walker Blue of the state. #6 Any building of three floors or higher constitutes downtown #13 Cedar Point is the Buckeye version of walt Disney World #14 I was just back home. I asked for a soda. The guy pointed toward the club soda. #15 has to be the fast food chain restaurant capital of the world #16 I still have my practice jersey from 1972. I wear a Carroll HS hat! #21 A southwest Ohio staple. Chili with Spaghetti on top. #24 Oh yeah. Shooting trap. Shooting clays. Shooting clay pigeons. We all did it. Started at 16 yrds. Worked out to 27 yds. #28 never heard them called vacuums until I was 28 years old. #29 Wendy's. Hq in Columbus. Dave Thomas sits at the right hand of God. #30 Specifically Dayton. Just saw the Wight Bros. home in June in the suburb of Oakwood by the University of Dayton. My great uncle was the Mayor.. I have his photo with Orville Wright.
Per George's comment about Dayton and the Wright Brothers, if you are a fan of airplanes, your bucket list must include a trip to the air museum at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton. It's amazing in terms of the history of aviation and the displays of actual airplanes. I can't imagine that there is anything like it elsewhere in the U.S.
Mayor Frank Krebs in the black suit. Orville Wright in the backseat wearing the hat with the black band. 1943, I think.
George, do I assume correctly that he is your grandfather? That makes you a descendant of Dayton political royalty. Sir George!
Having spent three days traversing upper Ohio this past July including Cleveland..... and also having known many Ohioans over my years in Detroit I have to agree with this list. ( Oh... and eating Skyline Chili in Cincinatti while drunk on my ass at 2 am was a memorable exprience as well.... lol )
4. Lebron not as hated as you might think. His "Decision" spectacle was. 11. Chinese buffets...yes, but I'll pass 12. Marrying HS sweetheart...I did. 13. Cedar Point...reaches farther out than Ohio, I think. 14. "Pop"...well, duh...what else would you call it? My daughers-in-law think we're nuts. They are from the "coke" states. 21. Skyline Chili...know a guy who owns one...but I'm not a fan 22. Cornhole...no thanks. 30. Birthplace of aviation...I've got an elderly friend who's grandfather did woodworking in Dayton...he helped the Wright Brothers with the Spruce tree woodwork on their first plane. Dave has a beautiful desk made by him. Then there is General Frank Lahm from Mansfield...the nation's first military aviator...trained by the Wright Bros...and I heard that he got to get behind the flight controls of a jet before he died. http://www.airforcemag.com/MagazineArchive/Pages/1963/August%201963/0863lahm.aspx Not to mention Purdue grad Neil Armstrong...from Wapekoneta,OH... North Carolina can keep it's Outer Banks...the Ohioans took their bird there to catch the wind for the their first flight.

No question about it. Michiganders flock their in the summer. I like it because it's a good place to meet the grandkids who come up from Columbus.
