My nephew Matt Van Zandt won his qualifier for the US Amateur, had quite a round finished -4...here's a link to his score card. He qualified earlier this year for the Southern Amateur, but missed the cut by a triple on the back nine of the 2nd day! He's the nephew who won the Nat'l Championship with A&M in 2009. Here's a link to his scorecard. US AM #proud uncle!

Alabama has become a power in college golf, one of the top young players from Texas, Corey Whittsett, plays for you guys. His dad is one of those Lasik Surgeons who has multiple offices and lots of commercials on local radio.
Well Matt didn't make the cut, he shot 74/76 and the cut line is 144. He had a great time though and met a lot of people...well worth the trip. He said that The Country Club at Brookline is one of the toughest courses he's ever played. A Ryder Cup was played there...the one where Ben Crenshaw cried!
Yeah good job Matt. Congrats uncle ... must have been all those early morning tee times w. you and maybe a few thunderstorms too....
