MLB will handing out 50 game suspensions. Nelson Cruz of the Rangers said...hokay. He's not appealing.
We worry about the integrity of baseball and records so much...sometimes we forget about who gets hurt... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...n-meyer-calls-antonio-bastardo-183445198.html
Yeah that obviously has to still hurt for that guy. I wonder if the players themselves know who is juicing and who isn't juicing. I don't blame them for not being snitches, not real good way to endear yourself to your teammates. But when battling for a job has to hurt to know it isn't a fair fight.
How about second baseman A who has good numbers. However, at contract negotiation time, management compares him with players B and C who are using PEDs. Player A ends us making less and unless he wants to put possibly damaging crap in his body, he has to live with it. For this reason the union should have been out in front on this issue but instead, too many have blamed Selig for all the problems. Instead of protecting both the game and the health of their members the union was busy protecting the juciers.
I know you guys aren't big fans of SI, but here's a good article I read over a year ago discussing this same thing...it's a little long. To Cheat or Not to Cheat
 They use some anecdotal evidence there, but the fact is every young player coming up knows that guys like A-Rod became richer than a Persian Pasha by taking PEDs. Many marginal players became rich the same way. Only universal, frequent, random testing of all players above the Double-A level will solve this problem. If this isn't resolved, MLB will go the way of horse racing, which had been the biggest sport in the country 100 years ago, but it couldn't convince their fans that the races weren't fixed...
MLB , as usual, has handled this whole thing miserably. Of course, with a former owner as a commissioner, what else would you expect? These teams made fortunes looking the other way while dozens of players transformed themselves into cartoonish body builders and re-wrote the record books. This is a key moment.. maybe the biggest since 1919.
Here's a ballplayer that I always admired. I agree with his opinions too... http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/08/06/rodriguez-should-be-banned-for-life-former-all-star-pitcher-says/
I agree with Bunning. Of all the current wrongdoers, ARod's the worst. He's a second time offender (if you believe his earlier confession) who also conspired to impede the investigation by baseball. And of course, he's the only one who's still playing. Even that lying bastard Braun knew when to accept his punishment.
