Among the players who might ultimately face discipline: Player Team Ryan Braun Brewers Everth Cabrera Padres Melky Cabrera Blue Jays Francisco Cervelli Yankees Bartolo Colon Athletics Nelson Cruz Rangers Fautino de los Santos Free agent Gio Gonzalez* Nationals Yasmani Grandal Padres Fernando Martinez Astros Jesus Montero Mariners Jordan Norberto Free agent Jhonny Peralta Tigers Cesar Puello** Mets Alex Rodriguez Yankees * Sources told ESPN that Gonzalez only received legal substances ** minor leaguer, not a member of the MLB Players' Association
Puig Watch: 1st at-bat tonight, double into the RF corner... - Ground out to SS. - 3-run HR that went half way to the police academy... I know who he reminds me of.........Roy Hobbs...
Peralta would be a big loss for the Tigers. He's having a great year batting .338. Could be an All-Star this season.
Guess this should cut down on the waiting time to get a table at Braun's two restaurants in Milwaukee.
    Roy Hobbs is still at it. He just hit another HR. The game is in the sixth inning and Puig has a double, two HRs and 5 RBIs... The crowd is as crazy for a player as any we've seen here since Fernandomania...
Puig is a good addition to my fantasy team, considering I'll soon be losing Braun. Bobda, soon Braun will be able to greet the diners personally in his restaurants.
An Astro on that list? Should we be getting better results from him? I hate to think what might be if he wasn't juiced.
re: Puig The last time any Dodger had this many hits, HRs and RBIs in his first two major league games was 1947. The player who did it was a friend of Corey: Spider Jorgenson... This kid is so good, that I'm having a hard time analyzing him. For example: he hasn't swung and missed yet. Every pitch that he's allowed to go by (that I remember) has been called a ball, and he's hit every strike. He hasn't struck out or walked. His perception of the strike zone has been perfect...
Jo Co, when Crawford and Kemp return to the lineup, what do the Dodgers do? Trade Ethier for someone with a pulse and eat a large portion of his new contract? Given the way Puig has performed, it would make no sense not to play him every day or send him back to the minors to rot. Their young guys who come here from Cuba all seem to be pretty polished players. Given your coaching background, do you feel that the Cuban players are better trained than players from the DR, Mexico, and other countries in Latin America?
Comments on the "List" How does Cooperstown ever weed out the bums from the legit players/ A-Rod will not likely have another at bat for the Yankees.... if they can figure out how to rid themselves of him with the least amount of financial pain. Hopefully the can figure out a loophole to dump him for non-peformance due to his drugging. The Michael Pineda for Jesus Montero trade that happened 18 months ago was considered a blockbuster. Pineda has yet to throw his first pitch for the Bombers and Montero has stunk on ice and now faces 100 games off. Bartolo Colon. Was winning like crazy at 280 lbs at 100 years old. Duh? I guess Peralta and Nelson Cruz won't be hitting any morew opposite field 450 Hrs off the end of the bat any more. Like watching David Copperfield, you can't believe what you are seeing in MLB anymore. Vince McMahon for Commissioner!
 sorry Bodda them is fighten words. I am big on Andre Either. no one plays right field like he does.... or center for that matter nothing drops he plays injured walls and railings mean nothing he can throw out a runner from the outfield. Our batters aren't hitting since they pulled in MacGuire. It was Andre who pulled them through the past when things were tough and the crowd loves him to...like a true player he also signs balls and tee shirts before each game for the kids for free imagine that He is an asset to the teamI would be highly upset if they traded him... move the new kid to left field. or center since Kemp will be out for a while.
After the financial pain inflicted on other teams by Yankee fueled salary escalation I hope that they take it royally where the sun don't shine.
You see him more than me, Mrs. Jo Co, and have a better handle on his talent. When I saw him in Milwaukee a few weeks ago, he pulled up on a ball hit to right field that ended up hitting the bottom portion of the fence leading to a rare Brewers rally and win. Later in the game, he was involved in the Gordon suicide squeeze fiasco. Mattingly benched him the next day and, while not mentioning his name, talked to the press about the Dodgers’ need to put players on the field willing to compete. My thought then was that it was not the bunt but the ball in right field that caused him to enter Mattingly's doghouse. Mattingly may not be the best manager in the world but, as a player, he played and competed with a chronic back problem that would have sidelined 99% of those playing MLB ball. He probably has a low tolerance level for those not giving a full effort on the field. It was his being in M's doghouse that made me think he might be the trade candidate when your outfield gets more healthy.
re: Ethier Since trading Ethier is fighting words to my wife, I'm typing very quietly. She's right in the next room, making me the only one of us that she can get her hands on. The short term solution is to do nothing. Finding a way to use Kemp, Crawford, Ethier and Puig all at the same time is the kind of problem that managers dream of. Puig could platoon in LF or RF with either Crawford or Ethier and he's faster than Kemp, with a better arm if you can believe it. All four of them have expensive, multi-year contracts, so there's no hurry to get rid of anybody. The long-term solution is to trade Ethier... re: Puig's age He really is 22 and we know a lot about him. Unlike many Caribbean players, he's been well known in the world of baseball since he was 13. Like Roy Hobbs, the Paul Bunyon-size rumors about his abilities began early. On an island filled with major league talent, he's been Cuba's best player since he was a teen-ager. He tried to defect twice, and was banned from playing in Cuba, so he's actually rusty and inexperienced for a guy his age. That showed up in his play here. He made unnecessary throws in both of his first two games, because he believes that he's Superman (he is) and that he can throw out any base runner, at any base, regardless of the situation. The more he plays, the better he will become at recognizing situations. re: Cuban vs. other Caribbean players Yes. Baseball is a religion in Cuba the way football is here. The entire country puts everything into it. Castro himself used to be a pitcher in the Detroit Tigers system. In Cuba, baseball isn't just the best thing, it's the only thing. Here's an article that explains it well: http://www.theatlantic.com/past/docs/issues/84jun/8406brown.htm
Well, Gipper, are the Yankees solely responsible for the other teams collective well being? Are they doing anything illegal or immoral ? Are they the only team that pays out bloated long term contracts? In A-Rods case he had a fat deal with Texas before the Yanks ever sniffed him. It looks like the Dodgers and the Angels pay pretty well too. What about the Tigers? I have no idea what their payroll is but they have stockpiled a lot of big stars and they usually don't come cheap, especially to Detroit. The Yankees built the cash flow infrastructure in a big market and then took advantage of it. I can understand that small market teams might feel the way they do. Let's not forget that the Yankees not only lead baseball in WS wins... they also lead in revenue sharing payouts and luxury tax payouts which is baseball's form of socialism. My prediction is that if A-Rod is indeed suspended for 100 games for the drug policy then the Yankeed will immediately press for the dissolution of his contract. If they win that decision, every other team in MLB will benefit as well because finally there may be some kind of significant deterrant to these chemical warriors.
George re A-Rod, yeah, Texas gave him a big contract and then realized what fools they were. They needed to unload him and found the perfect place. The Tigers do have some expensive stars. They can afford them because their fans turn out in 3 million plus seasons, not because they are fortunate to be located in a large media area. (Not like the Yanks, Angles, or Dodgers.)
Am I the only one who wants to see Braun get really unloaded on? He's approaching Lance Armstrong in denying how dirty he is. Baseball should never use the arbitrator who let him off the last time. He's nothing more than an accomplice.
 Mr joco you are in the Dog house.. Bobda I don't like Mattingly never have never will he is not a dodger..... He has cause more losses than any of the players. .... and Mr joco never mind will discuss it privately...
I'd like to see the whole lot of them get unloaded on, baseball has been protecting these guys. That list of cheaters never made the light of day, you know it was in the best interest of the game and all. 100 days isn't enough.
