Damien Mama is one of those Samoan Island phenoms who road grades his own freeways... He has been offered by everyone from Alabama to the entire 12Pac and yes...he's that good. He plays at St. John Bosco in Bellflower. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/165381/damien-mama
On the other side, let's not forget that Catholics didn't have it that great nearly a hundred years ago Read all about it here http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/notre-dame-vs-the-klan-todd-tucker/1101359478?ean=9780829417715&itm=1&usri=9780829417715
Years ago, I read about the 1924 student riot against the klan. I remember exactly where I was. It was 1967 or 68. I was on the road in Rochester, IN, having dinner in a diner. I picked up the South Bend Tribune on the counter. There was a lengthy article about the incident. I didn't put it down until I was finished. Ironically, one of the older officers at my client bank in Rochester was a devout racial bigot who once asked me how I felt living and working in Indianapolis with all those (n-word) around. It was a monumental stand by the students against an extremely powerful force in Indiana that had one of its own members elected governor. Think about it. 1924. A proud moment in ND history.
That's pretty funny. BTW bac k to ND stuff. Trouble in paradise, Eddie Vanderdoes is supposedly wavering on enrolling in ND. He was a big commit for us back in Feb, not exactly sure what has gone wrong. But what I'm reading isn't encouraging.
LOL! re: and there's more That catchy little tune is just begging for an X-rated parody in response. If the Huskers played in the 12Pac, you would already have 11 of them...
Got this from another board...poster questioning going after Calif recruits given these stats... Looking back at 10 years of recruiting (11 if you count the 2013 class) we have the following results: 2003: Freddie Parish – Transfer, bust 2004: Terrail Lambert – Multi-year starter 2004 - Darrin Bragg - bust Brandon Nicholas – Transfer Anthony Vernaglia – Bust 2005: None 2006: Konrad Reuland – Transfer Will Yeatman – Transfer 2007: Jimmy Clausen – Multi-year starter; rumors of maturity/attitude problems 2007 - Taylor Dever - starter 2008: Dayne Crist – Bust Anthony McDonald – Bust Joseph Fauria – Transfer 2009: Shaq Evans – Transfer 2010 - Justin Utupo - bust Cierre Wood – Multi year starter; rumors of maturity/attitude problems 2010: Cameron Roberson – Injury 2011: George Atkinson – potential starter Josh Atkinson – backup Troy Nicklas – Starter 2012: Tee Sheppard – Transfer Deontee Greenberry – Flipped on LOI day
everyone else seems to do just fine with them. maybe the Irish fan base should stop blaming everyone else and just get better?
Not going after Cali kids? That's pure crap. How much time did the poster spend on that list. He needs to get a life. We've lost some Florida kids in recent years. Should we abandon Florida also? If Vanderdoes de-commits, it will not hurt our program. We have forward momentum. No single player will either "save" the program or hurt the program with his decision. Why can't the chicken littles of ND fandom understand the reality of what's happening in South Bend?
 I agree with Sid. Why not go back further than 2003? John Huarte was from Mater Dei HS in Santa Ana and he won the Heisman Trophy at Notre Dame. I could make a long list of California/Notre Dame success stories like Jack Snow, Joey Geatherall, Kory Minor etc. A good player could from anywhere and they don't suddenly forget how to play when they go to Indiana...
Yeah even though I made that post, I don't want to stop recruiting California any more than I want to stop recruiting Texas or Fla. You have to go where the players are. Certainly kids from northern states that have grown up with the weather are maybe less likely to get home sick for sunshine but you have to go where the talent is no matter what.
Now a kids signature isn't worth squat either. If he bolts, like itseems sure he will, does he have to sit out a year? Anyone know where he wants to bolt too? I'm thinking Bama.
i am not going to generalize but it has been my experience with Tennessee that the ones that want to bolt... let 'em. I don't want them on my team if they don't want to be there.
Yeah I would agree Tom, they certainly have the potential to be cancers on the team. If they don't want to be there then every little thing becomes something that they are unhappy about. Nobody knows for sure why this kid was so happy on signing day and now doesn't want to come. George..nobody of course knows where he wants to go now, but I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't end up at UCLA. I would be shocked if he ended up at Alabama, they are full and don't have any extra scholarships. UCLA on the other hand... The one rumor I have seen is that 1) he and the family are still upset that somebody goofed and listed him as a ND commit on signing day and the made his press conf to announce less dramatic and (2) that there was some course that he was told he didn't have to have and then later he had to have but that has been resolved yet family doesn't trust ND coaches now. At this point since he has signed a LOI if he doesn't show up I think he loses a year of eligibilty in addition to having to sit out the year. So he'll only be able to play 3 years. So it's a big deal if he bails.
Thanks. I'm outta the loop. In Hobe Sound, FL sail fishing and drinking rum . Back to NJ and reality Saturday night.
