The Tampa Bay Times front page story today has the photos of about 14 or so Florida House GOP members all of whom led the majority vote last week to reject billions of dollars in federal aid to provide healthcare insurance for one million poor Floridians.

The article understandably takes issue with their vote because at the same time they voted to keep their own insurance premiums at an almost nil $8.43 per mo. for individuals and $25.00 per month for a family.

It is beyond comprehension to me that the people who set policy for this state and elsewhere in the nation have no real personal concept of the financial burden of paying for healthcare.

How can these people understand the real personal cost of healthcare when they get theirs virtually free?

It's a sick situation if you ask me.

And it's a sick position to defend......and unfortunately I am sure there are plenty here that would defend it and frankly..... I am not up to debating such a ridiculous disparity.

Have at it if you feel so inclined.

I'm going to say this as politely as possible..

IT IS A PROVEN FACT NOW THAT THE IRS IS BEING USED AS A WEAPON OF COERCION AND INTIMIDATION TO TARGET CONSERVATIVES AND REPUBLICANS

Honestly, until this matter is resolved I don't want to talk about anything else. This isn't a blow job. This is some jack boot ****. Isn't the IRS suppose to be the enforcement wing of Obamacare? Honestly, the more this story gets out, the less people are going to be comfy with the IRS doing much of anything.

I think the IRS story so far is indefensible by anyone.

But so is the story I posted above imho.

One exception though to the IRS story..... and that is individuals using tax free charities to shelter personal income.

If I have pay out the ass for taxes it pisses me off that others use tricks, mirrors and other shelters that I might not have access to in order to keep from paying their own fair share.

So you how do feel about using the home mortgage interest deduction that is not available to those less fortunate than you to own a home? Of how do you feel about using your children to reduce your taxable income, when those who don't have children are unable to do this?

Dave is going to have a rude awakening come January 2014 when his savior obama will no longer be able to hide the true cost of obamacare. Good luck in the poor house Dave... But you can rejoice in the fact that we all will be there with you.

I used to own a home until the Great Recession.... no longer.

I do have kids..... but they have always been more legit as deductions than an individual trying to hide personal income under the guise of running a tax free organization.

Anyway.... this is way off my original post above.

So basically what I see here is what I expected.

No one seems to have a problem with the Florida lawmakers enjoying their own good virtually free healthcare plan while at the same time turning their backs on federal money to assist the poor get decent healthcare.

No Dave... everyone is so tired of offering you cheese with that whine that the idiots in our government don't seem so bad.

For the last 6 years, you have been the finger nails on our collective chalkboards. We would side with Lucifer himself to try to stop that racket!

And as I thought, Congress wanting to exempt itself from the Health Care Bill that a majority of Americans have never favored, doesn't get a reply from you.
By the way, the money turned down by Florida was the bribe offered by the Obama administration to get states to get on board the Obamacare train. Of course, by standing up against the law, the legislature put itself in the line of fire for the liberal media folks in the state to snipe. And of course the rats follow the Pied Piper writers and rant and rave.

    Your answer is not unexpected.

By the way.... again.... this was the front page news story in the local Tampa paper..... lot's of whiners out there..... or maybe just people who see pompous self-righteous displays of GOP bravado for what it is.

If you believe what is happening to the woman in this article then you are heartless and inhuman if you agree with her plight but have no issues with the Florida GOP called out today by the TBT for enjoying good health care at taxpayer expense.

what's truly sickening is when people politicize the pain and suffering of others to put pressure on the other side to cave. I understand it's the reality of the business, but I'm not sure that you do.

You claim one side is playing politics. You've proven your point. You have a bigger heart than all of us. However, that enlarged heart is blocking your vision from using both eyes and seeing that both sides are playing politics, only one is actually carting the bodies out to do it. One day you'll see it.

Corey.... I do know there is two sides to every political coin.

But the only mainstream media I fully know is controlled completely by.... tainted by it's political leanings is Fox News.

Otherwise it's pretty clear these lawmakers pay almost nothing for what I am sure is cadillac health care while you and I pay through the nose and yet they are the ones that can turn down federal dollars while offering up zilch of a plan of their own to reduce our health care costs.

I do wish they could experience that financial pain that healthcare brings with it so since it's taxpayer money they should be on the plan offered up by my employer which would cost them about $1300.00 per month in premium alone plus about a $6,000.00 family deductible annually and then only an 80-20 co-pay plan after that.

    You need to look harder.

As for politicians telling us to eat cake, I don't deny that.. however, it's politicians on both sides doing it. My contention is that you keep chasing the sparkly objects that they want you to focus on rather than the real issues at hand.

For my budget health care isn't a "sparkly object".... it's the real deal.

Don't you think the ones who make policy and turn down money should feel a similar bite in their own household budgets in order to be qualified to know WTF they are doing about it?

Paying $25.00 per month is not only not in the ball park it's in outer space by comparison.

While the other media outlets conviently overlooked or ignored the Benghazi story, Fox knew from the very beginning that the story being told by the Administration was horse ****. And the reason that the other media outlets overlooked an important story is that they are not Politically tainted? More horse ****.
Now we have State Dept. employees saying how ashamed they were of the original story line fed out to the American people. I guess when you constantly buy lies fed out by the media, the one news organization telling the truth must seem like it's tainted.

Cindy and I pay ~$500 per month for medical and dental. We have $2000 maximum out of pocket per year. My fear is that obamacare is going to screw that up!

Maybe your employer is the person you should be questioning on your health care costs.

Uh....Tom.... the real world doesn't operate that way anymore.

The "If you don't like it go find another job" mantra doesn't work because that's not so easy.... the other job's healthcare probably sucks too or if it doesn't now wait until the extra expenses next year.. yada yada yada.. kick in and the costs "just have to" go up.

Count yourself as fortunate you work where you do.
