Hey...who could blame Les Miles....what he says makes sense when the Tigers are beatin their brains out vs. UF and Georgia while Bammer plays neither: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20130424/ARTICLES/130429823?tc=cr Actually over in the SEC East it has been Georgia taking advantage of skipping out on both Bama and LSWho for the past 2 or 3 years....
Pussies. You can't hold it over everyone that you've earned your express lane track to the national title game because you play in the best conference in the land.... and then turn around and complain about having to play the schedule that earns you that claim. Les is being a bitch.
Additionally, Alabama plays Auburn (who should be in the East) and Georgia plays Georgia Tech (ACC).. LSU has no in-state rival. Everyone's schedule has their own pitfalls.. Again, Les is being a bitch.
Losing to Florida last year was both unexpected and hurtful to the Tiger's season. I think he looks at Bama's annual East foe Tenn with a little disrespect here. Tenn back on track would even things out a bit for Miles and LSU.
These things are cyclical. There have been plenty of years in which Tennessee was on top (or near it) and LSU was mediocre, at best. He's just another lazy bastard looking for a handout.. Oh wait, that's only former players. Les is just employing strategy
The ol ball coach indirectly tells Miles to put on his big boy pants by making a MUCH better comparison (Tennessee playing Alabama). http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2013/sec-nine-game-schedule-power-coaches/
KP It's not that SOS isn't bullshitting you. It's that his ******** is such a finely crafted piece of work that you'd dare not even ask for it to be tainted by toast while he crams it down your throat. It's pure. It's art. He's funny though.
I would need examples of Spurrier "ducking" opponents....other than perhap the Canes when they were national title caliber along with FSU at the time. Made no friggin sense in Spurrier's days to have to play those two juggernauts in state.... the FSU game always a week before the SEC CG. No other SEC team came even close to having to go through that type of meatgrinder to win the SEC and get to the NC game.
MCG, Of course, we all acknowledge that when it comes to Florida, they are special. It was always harder for them than for anyone else. That goes without saying.
Corey, It was finely crafted, but he seldom "just played whoever they told him to play" Come to think of it he kind of had MCG's mindset, everyone was out to get Florida. Hmmm? :?
Kp, Specifically....very specifically I was referring to the days when UF had to play a top 5 caliber FSU squad the week before the SECCG. A tall task that would have been made ridiculously difficult if the top 5 Canes of Miami were also on the schedule.
kp, since Bama is back on top it seems you have a more selective memory. Spurrier never ducked anyone. As a matter of fact when he was signed as the Gators head coach starting in 1990 he had two demands. One was that our field be changed from artificial turf to natural grass. He got that. The second demand was the Miami be put back on our schedule. Remember that at that time FSU and Miami were almost always top 5 and Miami was winning National Championships. We had recently dropped them because we had added an SEC game. But Spurrier said that if want to be the best you have to beat the best and he wanted both Miami and FSU on the schedule. That is a fact. We had scheduled more games with Miami and were moving toward playing them every year. Then the SEC moved to 8 games and we then dropped Miami except for the years where there was an extra Sat and we could play them early then have an open game before starting the SEC schedule. That lasted for a bit and we do play them this year, however I don't believe it is going to continue past this season. Spurrier was never afraid to play anyone and has done a remarkable job at South Carolina. He has had a few things to say about the Georgia schedule in recent years, but all in all he doesn't want to duck anyone. I think his comments are aimed at what he sees as an inequity in the schedule. Much like Miles. These things go in cycles, Auburn and Tennessee will be back then Georgia and Alabama will have tougher opponents from the East.
My laughter came from Spurrier saying that we all just go play whoever they tell us play. He's telling Miles to more or less shut up and play. That's what I find funny. Spurrier telling anyone to talk less and just play the game. Come on? Y'all have to find that ironic? :?
I won't disagree with the KP. So accept my apology. Spurrier will be Spurrier and he isn't as brash now as when he was with the Gators. At least he doesn't get as much press coverage when he does say something. You had to love it though that when ESPN covered USC West's spring game on the same day USC East had their's the same day and Spurrier pointed out that his team had a much better year last year and that ESPN may have covered the wrong spring practice. Spurrier being Spurrier. A dig at Lane Kiffin I can always handle.
