It's amazing that he's still employed there, their AD had to have known what was going on..both of them should be fired.

Rutgers punishment is almost as disgusting as this clown's behavior.

How was it not known that Rice was a powder keg? It's not like his job was his first job as a coach. He took Robert Morris to 2 NCAA tourney's and was a hot candidate when RU hired him.

They had to know. I don't buy this crap that the AD didn't know no matter what the Dir of Player Development (the one who supplied the video footage) says now. He's trying to play nice to keep his future in coaching alive, by not throwing an AD under the bus.. but they all need to go.

That being said, I've played for worse guys than that..although this dude was pretty bad. That doesn't justify it, but you guys should probably know there are worse then that dude out there.

Several articles indicate the AD had seen this film several months ago and, at that time, suspended Rice for three games after discussing the matter with the university's president. Nothing has changed since then other than the video going public resulting in a firestorm.

Further read that the AD is highly regarded and was as a key player in getting Rutgers into the B10. His talent might be enough to save his job but my guess is his continued employment is hangng by a thread.

Anything they do to a clown like Rice is OK with me. I played for gorillas like that. In 1966 our basketball coach had us run layup drills (every day) with him standing under the basket punching us in the ribs as we elevated toward the rim to "make us tougher." He tossed around ugly, racial remarks at our black players, made sexual comments about the girls on the cheerleading squad, and called all of us "pussies." Except that he had a hairlip, so that it came out "pushies." There are still a few of these dinosaurs in the coaching profession and they need to be identified and exterminated.

All of us in our age group either played for coaches like this or against them. Here is a name JO'Co will recognize... Bob Palcic. He is a grad of University of Dayton, had a cup of coffee in the NFL and was my LB coach when I was a senior at Carroll HS in Dayton Ohio in 1971.

He was probably one of the nastiest bastards I ever played for . He was so closely removed from playing himself that he viewed himself as a competitor of ours as much as a coach.

One day were doing nutcracker drills and he was unhappy with the way I was squaring up to the ball carrier. He started calling me names and after my 5th straight full contact turn in the chute he grabbed a helmet and shoulder pads from a player , picked up a football and challenged me to tackle him. I'll never forget the sight of him coming between those bags.... I hit him square up and the impact sent me about ten yards backwards. My whole body felts like it was broken. I was 5'10" and 179 lbs. He was 6'2" and about 245 lbs. He almost completely ripped off a team mate's ear when he slapped him up the side of his helmet on the blocking sled... he got his finger caught in the ear hole of his helmet and ripped the helmet and the ear. Had to have it sewed back on.

He went on to a stellar coaching career and is currently at SMU I think. I will always remember him as a real douchebag.

My guy was Tom Bonnelli at Bishop Eustace Prep in Pennsauken, NJ. He was the varsity line coach in my freshman and sophomore years and was gone by my junior year. Because I was a running back on the JV squad, he didn't impact me, but his style was similar to how George described his coach. We watched how he "coached" the varsity linemen and shook our head, relieved that we didn't have to be coached by him.

I heard one of Rice's former players from Robert Morris stand up for him and I see there is an article on ESPN where some of the current players are standing up for him as well. Interesting, Stockholm Syndrome?
