This ties in with this article. Naturally all ND Fans and Alums are proud of the accomplishments of the program to consistently meet our obligation to the players who enter the program. That is to provide an environment that is conducive to their caring about graduating. It is an environment that has been around for as long as we've been playing football. It is an environment that really and truly won't work every place. I think it's partly because the student body in general is such a high achieving group who have always finished what they started and graduate almost 100% of the time in the four years that they are there and there is not very many kids who start at ND and don't finish there. And since the players are not allowed to have their own apartments off campus, I know for at least the first 2 years maybe 3 years, they are pulled along by that same high achieving student body. That and the very same screening process that sometimes irritates us when we read that we can't recruit some super stud because of academics, also helps to bring in guys who have a chance to succeed.

I think ND grad rates are going to decline for the class of 2007 and 2008, Willingham didn't bring in a bunch of players and those classes have had a lot of attrition. The good thing is that the new calculations take into account if a student athlete transfers and graduates from another school. I'm not exactly sure how they account for those kids, but it doesn't hurt your grad rate.

I guess I understand how Mack Brown can get 28 recruits pledged every year before most teams even start recruiting seriously.

I'm surprised and pleased Ohio State's is as high as it is.

Isn't Georgia the state with free in-state tuition? Daddy was right... you get what you pay for

Bravo to the Gators and Cornhuskers!

Well to be fair to Mack Brown, those stats are from the recruiting classes of 1996, 1997 ...all John Mackovic and 1998, 1999 Macks 1st 2.

Which means that for Notre Dame they are basically reporting on 1 year of Holtz and the rest are Bob Davie kids.
