Damn....those FGC high flyers are fun to watch. Just wish it wasn't my team that has to bring them down to earth on Friday night cause I would cheer them on vs. anybody else.
And today's show is brought to you by the word, Prophetic. I don't know Dave, I don't think they care, or worry that they're a 15 seed.
They do seem fearless to be sure. I just have to hope that all of this heavy attention by the media drags them down....to wit: I saw one of their players this morning on TV say something about Florida that is sure to get the Gator's attention..."Looks like we have the rep....not Florida"...." I mean...look at all the media we have asking us questions and not them"...... uh....ok then. 8)
Yeah, they are a classy bunch. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Yyn3fpZ7Jac" frameborder="0"></iframe> And that prick of a coach laughing along. Way to be a role model for sportsmanship.
Spurrier made his bones by stoking those fires. For years Florida fans have been out there on the cusp of bucking the traditional ways of celebrating. I'm quite sure there's been profanity used in and around Spurrier in regards to other schools and Steve not do anything other than smile. Hell, he does that now. I dunno... for decades now Florida has been the struttin, shuckin, jivin, trash talking school from Florida. The only thing that could possibly be said was 'Well, we're not as bad as Florida State or Miami so stop bitching.' The sad/funny thing is, that's true. It comes with being the established power. Welcome to the club Gators, you're now an old timer Besides, there are FDA warnings that have more wording than the Florida Gulf Coast Course Catalog.. they're new.. let them do their thing. There is a bit of irony to listening to Gator fans talk about 'brash cocky trash talking'...
Happens way too often that sportsmanship takes a back seat to "working the crowd". There is an easy way to stop it in this instance... Gators by 30 points!
That didn't stop Spurrier when Nebraska put the wood to them.. besides, you guys act like he's stoking the crowd or feeding into that. He's just laughing. He played no part in that. Much ado
If they have stoked Florida's "fire" by some of those words and actions and get beat by 20 or more points....then it backfired and maybe next time the coach doesn't laugh. If they beat the Gators then brash talk on brotha. 8) Spurrier's teams won and won big. That made a difference in the analysis of the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the brash cockiness. I always point to Lane Kiffen as the example of how not winning makes brash cockiness look silly.
I do get the feeling that the superhyped attention of the media this week will unravel these dunkinsteins.
There was a long time we all pointed out you saying the same things. Eventually, the Gators proved them wrong. Welcome to the old guys club, discounts at the buffet start at 6.
http://forum.gatorsports.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26311#p521743 Every dunk by FGC.... fun to watch....and impressive.
Don't get the "irony" comment Corey. Brashness...cockiness....that's not to be confused with old school arrogance. The first two are more reserved for the newer kids on the block imho. Smug arrogance is reserved for the oldsters....the ones who have been around for awhile. The thing is....old school arrogance doesn't necessarily equate to a recent history of winning....but brash cockiness usually does. Usually I say unless you have a nimrod like a Lane Kiffin just throwin it out there anyway.
FGC? Newbies... bolstered by America's love and a couple of high profile wins in the NCAA tourney....especially over the 2 seed Hoyas. Brash and cocky.
