I see parallels in the coming season's finally for both ND and Florida in that both will be fortunate to come out with 10 wins. Say..10-2 for ND and 10-3 for Florida....unless the Gators win the SECCG. Even at 11-2 for UF I could see TV clamoring for an Urban Meyer-Charlie Weiss match-up in a BCS bowl somewhere. I think fans of both schools and the national audience would be very pleased with that scenario in any event. I can see the hype building for this one already...Meyer's jilted suitor going to teach him a lesson or two...etc...etc.... Right now FYI, CFN has UF projected to play Michigan in the Rose Bowl which would make me ecstatic as well.
It would certainly be good copy that's for sure. Everybody assumes that since the Sugar Bowl gets the #1 pick this year that if the Irish finish 10-2 and top 10 that they will pick them. Terry's picks are: Champ Game Winner Ohio State/Michigan vs USC if they are undefeated or WVA/Louisville winner if not. Sugar Bowl: SEC Champ Auburn vs ND if we are 10-2 if not then ACC #2 Fiesta Bowl: Texas vs Fla Rose Bowl : Ohio State/Mich Loser Vs CAL Orange Bowl: Va.Tech vs TCU if they go undefeated or SEC #2 if not. Book it.
NC game: OSU vs. USC unless an SEC team is unbeaten Rose: Michigan/OSU loser vs. Florida (SEC 2) Fiesta: WVa/Lville winner vs. Texas Orange: Clemson vs. Oklahoma (Big 12 #2) Sugar: Auburn/Fla (SEC Champ) vs. ND I have to back off ND-Fla because the Sugar picks first and I don't have confidence that UF will be the SEC Champ opposite. No way the Rose doesn't get or want the Big Ten #2 as a rep and Michigan already played ND so a 11=2 or even maybe a 10-3 Fla could land here. The key for UF's BCS chances is beating Georgia because that goes a long way toward getting the Gators in the SECCG and it rubs out Ga as the SEC #2 in the BCS. LSU could sneak in though by winning the rest of it's games including Fla.
