I'm sure this will affect the Irish who have played 3 B1G teams a year for a long time. Michigan is going off the schedule, and probably will not be coming back esp if the B1G goes to 10 conference games.

I suspect that Purdue and MSU will stay on the schedule though as they benefit financially more from playing ND than does Michigan.

I do find this one paragraph in the ESPN article interesting and will need a B1G fan to explain to me what it means?
I take it to mean a program like Ohio State might expect to be compensated for giving up a home game.

Either that or maybe for conference games the profit is split evenly (just guessing)...and they are thinking that that might have to be adjusted. Dunno.

It would appear to me that will be the case, although I have never seen anything in print.

I see that the B1G is also going to discontinue scheduling teams from the FCS. SEC needs to follow suit.

The dropping of FCS opponents couldn't have anything to do with the new 4 team playoff system could it? Is strength of schedule back in play? Wiskey was one of the biggest proponents of the cream puff diet.

I think most of the fans want to see better opponents. Price of tickets demands that approach.

Looking beyond the obvious, I can see it becoming more and more difficult for the Irish to fill out a competitive schedule.

All the conference consolidation is going to force our hand.
