Wow...I get up this morning and check my ND sites, nothing going on still waiting/hoping for a couple of recruits. I go over to check my Texas site and BOOM a firestorm has erupted since I went to bed.

Major Applewhite is in a heap of truoble. Turns out that during the 2009 Fiesta Bowl he slept with a student (over 18/consenual), I can't figure out if he felt guilty and went to Mack and/or Deloss Dodds or somebody turned him in to them. But he was "punished" back then, supposedly had a salary freeze and was required to get counseling. I'm sure he got a freeze at home as well since he was/is married.

Now you might ask why would this suddenly erupt in 2013 as a big issue? Well just this past fall Dodds forced a Black/Lesbian/Female track coach with a sterling record to resign (read fired her) over a similar situation...an affair with a student. Now her affair was also consensual but it was one of her athletes and it occured over a period of a year or more.

So you slap the wrist of a white/male coach and fire the black lesbian...you see where this is going.

There is an emergency Board of Regents meeting this weekend. This could cost Major his job.

Too bad, I do believe Major is one of the good guys and just slipped unfortunately. But when you fire the black/lesbian and just slap the wrist of he white/male ....well you know somebody's lawyer is going to dig this **** up and make something of it and get a big settlement most likely and probably deservedly.

How does the guy who meted out this uneven punishment keep his job?

Well speculation is that it could cost him his job and it could cost Mack his job. But those two guys probably have significant political capital to protect them...ie know where bodies are buried. Major no such advantage.

As i see it there is a significant difference. With major, it sounds like it was a single occurrence with a student not directly under his influence or responsibility. With the black lesbian, it was an ongoing thing with someone who directly"reported"to her.

And this is why it was right for her to be fired and not major. She knew it was wrong and did it anyway. She says she doesn't want to get anyone else fired, then why the lawsuit?

I see a Major, no pun intended, difference in the two situations for the same reason Kesley posted above.

Here is an odd piece of information. Texas football assistant coaches do not have contracts. They are at will employees.

unless you're a football coach or a defense contractor, it seems that everyone in this state is an at will employee, even most of the teachers are as well..

Just keeps getting better, Connor Brewer the #2 QB was arrested. Alcohol related.

Also there is so much speculation that Deloss Dodds our AD will be fired over this and that Mack will retire. New AD is going to be Oliver Luck of West Virginia...new coach will be ???

I figured something must be up, supposedly a 5 star DT recruit (A. Robinson) told the Texas coaching staff he was decommitting and going to sign with Alabama. You don't hear about that happening to Texas very often. I don't know if it is true or not. :?:
