Seriously.. I mean, why not Liza Minelli? At least she was a proven talent on the big stage as a pro. I've read a lot of dumb topics that we cover in fun here over the years, but this might take the cake.
Ok....somebody look at those stat comparisons between Elway and Tebow and give me a good analysis. Tebow clearly outperformed Elway and was damned near a 1000 yard rusher besides having a 19 to 9 TD to int ratio. And yet in the final analysis he gets judged soley on style....etc.....and not on what he has done in NFL competition. It doesn't have any logic to it. As it stands now Denver is 0-1 in playoff games since Tebow's departure. We'll see how it goes.
AJ/Kp.... my answer is in my last post. It defies logic why he hasn't been given another chance so far when you see what it was that he was able to accomplish as a starter.. The Jets situation was tremendously inept.....it was so disconnected it stands by itself. I still think that at some point what Tim actually did on the field in Denver....in real games..... will be taken in to account and he will get another shot.
I don't think it defies logic. I think the folks that make these decisions want to win and they want to make money. Why in the world would they not play a guy unless they believed he was not the best choice to help them win or make money? This is the second team that has come to the same conclusion. Maybe the 3rd time's a charm. :?
The logic defied Kp is the achievements Tebow had on the field. And yes.....the comparison shows that he outperformed the great John Elway himself..... by a large margin at the same stage of their careers. Just rushing alone he had a great 16 games......950 yards and 12 Tds! It does defy logic that those kinds of stats get ignored and tossed aside in favor of watching the kid throw on a practice field. RE: the Jets.......that staff and offense was so screwed up it just doesn't count. Re: Elway......he thought he could win now.....and he was partially right....but only partially and a similar performance by Manning and the team next year will bring a lot of discontent in Denver and if it doesn't happen next year how long can Manning perform at optimum levels at his age? Sure 13-3 was great in the regular season..... but a wild card Giants team at 9-7 with Peyton's little bro guiding the team to the Super Bowl win is much more the desired result Elway and the fans are looking for vs. an elite Qb who doesn't get the job done in the playoffs.
Tebow's value is pretty low right now so pretty much any team can pick him up for peanuts. We'll see if anybody thinks he's worth peanuts.
I don't see Tebow thriving as a role player. If some team cannot give him a chance to be a leader on the field at the Qb position then he may be done. I doubt he would want to repeat his miserable Jets experience.
The word is that he has terrible hands and that is why he can't play TE/HB. So it's QB or bust for him....or in reality ..bust.
How about he EARN a chance... as in beating out the starter in practice. Just saying... But we all know how you are hot on gimme.
Tom...lighten up on the "gimme" ****... If you actually looked at the stats from the 16 "live" games that Tebow participated in.....including a playoff win over the #1 defense in the NFL....you might just think that holds more value than some screwy ass practices given by a lame offensive coordinator and a seriously squirrelly head coach in New York. But then again forming predetermined opinions based on previously constructed bias seems to be your norm.
Just taking your words compared to your MO. You get off of the gimme defecation and I will let it go.
Glad you brought the fumble thing up WSU. In Elway's first two seasons with Denver he had 84 rushing attempts and had 20 fumbles with only 2 Tds. In Tebow's 1st two seasons with Denver he had 165 rushing attempts with 14 fumbles ( 6 lost ) and a whopping 12 Tds. Obviously given those stats Elway's potential was tremendous.....he practiced well......and Tebow? Well......the kid could play on Sunday.....but those practices! My gosh.....
What I have learned in this topic: MCG knows more about managing and coaching professional football teams than the GMs, HCs and position coaches of two complete NFL programs. Two complete NFL programs would rather lose games than play an obviously better qualified player. Two complete NFL programs would rather risk losing revenue than to play an ex-Gator QB. Everyone should bow down to the supreme knowledge possessed by MCG who obviously not wanting to brag, omitted his College and NFL coaching experience from his resume.
