    1. Astro's finally have the Cards number.... a little late though. Roger comes back tonight for his 2nd "final" home appearance for the Astros. I'm still not contributiing to the fund to buy him a new Hummer. :)

    2. Tigers starting to look like they will hang on and win the AL Central. Either way though it does look like the worst they will do is the wildcard.

    3. Irish, possibly have turned the corner for this year. Nobody has played a tougher opening schedule than the Irish and we are 3-1, with undefeated Purdue comming to South Bend. That game last night may turn out to be the one that people look back at and say that was the one that got the team out of the Willingham era and into the Weis era. There was a win at the end of the 86 season at USC, it was a gutty comeback in the rain at L.A. Nothing really much to shout about Lou finished 5-6 with that win. But it was in fact the spring board to the 1988 National Championship, the players learned to believe in Lou and in themselves in that game.

    4. All of the Top 10 teams won so there wasn't much movement in the polls. Nobody had a really great win, just wins. At the begining of the year most figured any one of a doz teams could win the Nat'l Championship. It still looks that way, Ohio State looks like somebody who can run the ball well could give them a game (Mike Hart?), USC doesn't look quite as explosive (yet). Auburn? Who knows when you play Buffalo. Michigan? Henne showed that he still knows how to toss a pick or two, defense though still looks to be one of the country's best. SEC teams will knock each other out, so I can't see any of them being in it. Texas Longhorns? Starting to get knicked up, pass defense that Ohio State exploited starting to be a concern.

    5. Ryder Cup....they need to hire Charlie Weis to coach them. :)

    6. ARMY bashed by all, almost beat Texas A&M and did beat Baylor (at Baylor). Could Bobby Ross actually have them on the cusp of being respectable? Probably not this year, but maybe they are heading in the right direction.

    7. Rutgers 4-0 and likely to run to 6-0? What's going on there?

    8. How is it that after beating FSU soundly at Tallahassee that Clemson is still ranked behind them in the polls. That's terrible. ACC in general is not looking good, but not as bad as the Big 12.

    9. Missouri is quietly looking like a pretty good B12 North team. The Neb/Missouri game will be for the B12 N championship.

    10. UConn beat Indiana...and there were no 3 point shots.

    11. Another weekend with no good movies released. Hollywood is in a funk. Maybe all their efforts and creativity are going into the upcommig election.

The Detroit Tigers qualified for the playoffs today. I would not have thought that this was possible before the season started. This is a great tribute to their GM and field manager. Even I admit it: the Tigers are back.

Astros completed the Sweep of the Cards, they are in a heap of trouble. They have no bullpen whats so ever, if they hang on and win the Division they will get swept in the playoffs.

Oh yeah, Roger made his 2nd and final, final home appearance Sunday night....can't make any more this year since we don't have any more home games!!! :)

    Thanks Roger!!
