The newly retired special teams coach of the Jets thinks so: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20130111/WIRE/130119914?tc=cr It was apparent to me that Ryan never wanted Tebow and must have been kicking and screaming for the Jets not to sign him. I sure hope the kid gets one more legit shot somewhere where they don't want just a QB who looks good on paper because of his arm.... but one with heart and a physicality and who is a proven winner. The Jets mishandling of Tebow and their swoon out of the playoffs while remaining maddeningly loyal to Sanchez was a puzzling disgrace. Meanwhile I'll be pulling for his old team to do what did not seem possible before the season.... make it to the Super Bowl with the Comeback Player of the Year at Qb.
Unfortunately the Jets fiasco could be fatal to Tebow's NL career. However he is a lot like Danny Wuerffel, he may not be an NFL star, but he is already a success at life.
There is a small circus that follows Tebow around. I don't think many teams will want that, I thought it interesting that the Jacksonville GM discounted out of hand that Tebow would be coming to Jacksonville. At one time supposedly they wanted him if for no other reason to sell tickets. It's really clear that Tim is a great person, and as Bill says he will be a success in life even if not in the NFL. But it's also clear to pretty much everybody who isn't Dave that Tebow does not have what is necessary to be a NFL QB. He's got a bad throwing motion that has not changed since HS and inspite of his working with all sorts of Guru's it's still the same. If he would change positions and move to HB/TE and play a little wildcat QB he could probably play a long time in the league.
This I agree with and I feel it is his biggest hurdle. The kid is a winner pure and simple and a leader who needs to play the position of leadership to pull off his particular brand of winning magic... the QB position. It's hard for him to pull off any miracles when that position is being led by a Qb who will forever be shown in highlight reels executing the play known as the "butt fumble".
The Jets screwed him over royally. He could have been another Brad Smith, a tremendous offensive weapon who the Jets lets go two years ago. Its no coincidence that the Jets have stunk on ice since Smith left.
Too bad for Tebow, blame it on the media as well. The damage is done, time to move on. The NFL is not for everyone.
Broncos-Ravens tonight was one hell of a football game. Peyton Manning had some brilliant throws......but he also threw the mistake pick at the end in OT that cost his team the win......preventing him from winning even one game in the playoffs as Tebow managed to do last year over the Steelers in OT. Interesting that just like Tebow vs. Tom Brady and the Pats last year Manning couldn't play pass defense.....couldn't get his secondary to make the necessary plays to win the game. Oh well..... let's just blame Tebow. 8)
Read this at your own risk if you are a Manning supporter and a Tebow detractor: http://forum.gatorsports.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25195 Gator fans understandably are not too sympathetic for either Manning or Elway. Last year in OT Tebow threw a game winning TD vs. the NFL's #1 rated defense while this year Manning threw a pick 6 early and the game loser pick in OT. Manning had a wonderful regular season..... and some great throws in this game.....brilliant throws..... but he contributed to the loss.... and didn't win.
Nfl teams are in business to win. If tebow gave a team a better chance to win, i am sure someone would be all over him. Fact is, he is not a good qb and no amount of delusion saying he just wills teams to victory will change that. Nice try, though, trying to show how much better tebow is than peyton. What a joke.
Last I looked WSU winning is winning....even if there is the threat of a running QB and play clock control to help facilitate it. Tebow never received ant credit for making Denver one of the best rushing teams in the NFL last season and his QB ratings in the fading minutes of games when games are won or lost were off the charts. Winning and advancing in the playoffs is the ultimate NFL goal and Denver did neither today. I still blame Tebow though for the lousy pass defense played by the Broncos today......
Blame the Jets and probably Ryan specifically.....he stuck with a guy that kept the Jets out of the playoffs with some of the most miserable performances I have ever witnessed at the Qb position in the NFL. At times Sanchez was pathetic this year.
Manning had the Broncs ahead with just over a minute left in the game and the Ravens with no TOs. His D imploded giving up a bomb with 30 sec. left. He won the game and his D lost it. Only stupid Gator fans believe that Tebow could have posted 35 pts against the Ravens today. What complete buffoons.
I guess I do see where the reference to stupid Gator fans comes from. The folks on that game day have their heads in a delicate place. I have always been a Peyton Manning fan but am not a fan of Elway. Manning did not lose the game in spite of throwing the interception. The Denver defense lost it and a conservative coach lost it. With a QB like Manning and time outs why would't you try to move the ball at the end of each half and maybe get a field goal. Oh well it looks to me like New England to the Super Bowl again, but I will be rooting for the Ravens.
Kapernick is having an awesome, Johnny Football-like game. Tebow is what he is a great young man who is already a success in life and will continue to be a success. Just don't think he'll ever achieve in the NFL what he did in college.
I'm a fan of Tim Tebow, and I agree with Terry's comments above. There are many Heisman Trophy winners who led their college teams to success with their phenomenal talents, but who did not have outstanding careers in the NFL. So far, Tebow seems to be one of those. I hope he proves me wrong.
...no it tells me just how screwed up the Ryan situation really is in New York when he couldn't find a way to give Tim a chance when Sanchez was so friggin lousy. And..... Manning only managed to lead the offense to 21 points vs. the Ravens....... 8 less than the 29 points Tebow generated vs. the Steelers last year. ( two scores tonight came on kick returns by Holiday ) "Manning did not lose the game in spite of throwing the interception. The Denver defense lost it " Heck last year when Brady and the Patriots went wild it was all Tebow's fault so it follows that all those Ravens points were Manning's fault ( 10 points actually did come from Manning ints )
RE: Qbs that can run...... Anyone catch that Qb for SF who ran for 181 yards and two TDs vs. Green Bay in a rout of the Packers? That son of a bitch must be a lousy passer to have to run for so many yards and it's a wonder the Niners didn't lose with that kind of running from the Qb position going on.
