No not because we beat the Aggies in College Station..... but because it is continuous from some here that the SEC only plays SEC so how do we know how good they are yada yada yada.......and then the SEC goes 6-3 in the bowls.
Also AJ,.... I was assured in no uncertain terms that I was a moron for not accepting as fact that Notre Dame would have "no problem" going 12-0 with Florida's schedule which now appears to be a ridiculously funny contention don't ya think?   8) :D

    :(

Congratz to the Tide and kp on a well earned championship.

On our side there isn't even much to analyze. The one thing that the Irish couldn't allow was to have the Bama Oline dominate them up front and that's exactly what they did, right from the first play. Our LBs, who caused so much grief for other opponents, couldn't even get to ball carriers, because Barrett Jones was so good that he handled Louis Nix one-on-one, allowing the guards to move further down and attack/screen the LBs. I never saw Manti have a proper angle at a runner and I don't believe that Danny Spond made even one tackle. Our poor strong safety, Zeke Motta, made tackles from sideline-to-sideline and endzone-to-endzone and tried to play pass defense too, because everyone else was out of position on every snap. They were being knocked out of position. Alabama didn't run any trick plays, they were just that good up front.

Congratz again to all Tide fans on a great win. We were beaten by a much better team.

Great win, KP. I don't feel all that bad about it because by the 7:00 mark of the first quarter it was apparent that Bama was far superior. If we played them a dozxen times I don't think it would turn out any different. They dominate.

I have never seen a running back stop in the middle of a run and throw a potential tackler to the ground like Lacey did to Spond. Perfect hip toss.

Teo was completely lost for half the game and completely blocked the other half. That game may well cost him significant dollars in the upcoming NFL draft.

It all starts in themiddle and Jones lived up to his billing. His ability to handle Nix allowed the guards to take turns pancaking our LBs.

It was all Bama. Great coach and great athletes. I thought the Irish played as well as they could.

It appears that Dave will be more than willing to ride your coattails for the next nine months.

Nah.... still feel like crap about the Gators bowl performance and that won't go away at least until signing day.

Feel pretty damned content though about defending the Gator's #1 ranked schedule...... :D

And pretty amazed by Alabama and Saban's great.... focused defense of their national title.

And I think I'll ride the coattails of a team that is 950 miles west of Gainesville in a different time zone.... a team that beat this Alabama team in Tuscaloosa...... and whom the Gators beat in their first trip out there.
( seriously Wendy.....this really did happen..... )

Cogratulations, kp. You guys just plain kicked our butts.

We've come a long way, but this game against a superior opponent shows how far we have to go to join the ranks of the truly, consistently elite teams.

It was a great season for ND even if it ended on a sour note.

    I agree 100% with JO'Co's and George's analyses.

Sid, you are right that ND has a long way to go to run with consistently elite teams. However my Irish Eyes mag cites several areas of significant improvement, namely turnover margin, interceptions, net punting, red zone defense, pass efficiency defense, sacks and notwithstanding the Alabama assault, rush defense to #4 nationally. Kelly is recruiting a great class with emphasis on the trenches. It may be a ways off, but I see significant progress. I think Kelly is on the right track.

Agreed, Vic, on all counts. This has been an outstanding season in terms of resurrecting the program, and it looks very favorable for the future. The long-term impact of this game may be positive by providing us with a goal far beyond just being in the game. Any fan who does not feel good about the season and optimistic about the future wasn't paying attention this past season.

On a different note, ESPN has issued an apology for Brent Musberger's words about the Alabama QB's girlfriend. Musberger is a tool, always has been,

ESPN apologizes for Musburger comments about QB's girlfriend

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
ESPN is apologizing for some of the commentary from Brent Musburger during last night's telecast of the college football championship game, won by Alabama over Notre Dame.

As ESPN's cameras repeatedly focused on spectator Katherine Webb, who is Miss Alabama USA and the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, Musburger kept commenting about how attractive she is. He said, "Wow, I'm telling you quarterbacks: You get all the good-looking women."
ESPN has released a statement saying that the commentary "went too far" -- and that Musburger "understands that."

Meanwhile, Webb has picked up more than 140,000 new Twitter followers.

Among those who noticed Webb was Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett. He tweeted her his telephone number and suggested that they meet after the game. He later tweeted that he meant to message her privately.

McCarron responded after the game, telling Dockett on Twitter to "keep dreaming."

Just for general reference I thought it would be "good" of me to share her pic in case the viewers may have missed her during the game...

I thought it was funny myself and can promise it did nothing but help her modeling, acting or future TV career...

oh he drooled over her excessively...not enough that an apology was needed.
