I think you guys should start another thread where we can actually talk about the game... (I'm serious).
Saban beat Notre Dame when he coached Michigan State. This will be the first time he has faced ND as coach of Alabama.
The first intrusion was Jo'Co listing Georgia's much inferior stats post SEC Title game. Game over..... why list them? He left it fair game for an SEC team's 20 year stats to be shown that are better than both Bama and Ga.....and who this year looks be slipping in to the BCS #3 spot tonight.
Yes Corey the first response was Dave mentioning the Gators, the next one was mine telling him to let it go. Sid, I mean beat Notre Dame while the Bama coach. Apparently the Bear didn't, at least according to the article that I read.
Ha! I was wondering what kind of response I'd get to those stats! I cut&pasted them directly from an Alabama message board...
Bama will never run the ball on the Irish thy way they ran on the 'dogs. LSU, A&M, and Georgia all put 396 or more yards on Bama's defense. They can be beaten. Protect the football and control the clock. Sounds easy, doesn't it?
JO'Co, from your first post. What 6 games did Notre Dame play away from home. According to Sportsline's Notre Dame page you played away games with Navy- Neutral Site Michigan State Oklahoma Boston College USC And Home Games with Purdue Michigan Miami Stanford BYU Pitt Wake Forest That's 7 home games, 4 games at the other teams site and 1 neutral site. Just curious Notre Dame Sportsline Page
Bill, Miami was a "home" game but played in Soldier Field in Chicago, which is 2 hours away from South Bend. Also, I think you can consider the Navy game in Ireland away from home. That's 6 games away from our home campus and stadium and 6 games played in Notre Dame Stadium.
Bill, by the way, the comment about the Navy game in Ireland was meant to be humorous and not sarcastic. When I re-read it, it looked like it could be taken either way. Can I get a piece of that bet? Get it? BAPP? A piece of the bet? Bobda......maybe I could offer some Indiana cigarettes. Seriously, how about some Hoosier Orville Redenbacher popcorn? I'm open to suggestions.
The following is a quote from ND head coach Brian Kelly, which reflects my feelings about the NC game:
How does one intrude on one's own thread? JOCO posted stuff from an Alabama BB, that's pretty tame stuff though. ****, that's almost fair compared to most conversations. Bill, All-time Alabama is 1-5 vs Notre Dame. Bear Bryant lost 4 of those.Ray Perkins is 1-0 vs the Irish. Bill Curry is 0-1. There was a home and home on the slate between these two teams that got put on hold some time ago.. maybe 5 or 7 years ago? Long time Alabama Mal Moore has a very good relationship with the University of Notre Dame. Moore was an assistant for the Bear until he retired. He then joined Gerry Faust's staff at Notre Dame. When that went to ****, literally, he returned to Alabama to coach under Gene Stallings. I was hoping the series would be played, but I'm not sure it ever will now. That's a shame. Alabama's lone win over the Irish came in Lou Holtz' first year as ND coach after he took over for Gerry Faust. A real good 10 win Bama team handed us a solid loss that wasn't decided until late in the game. There is a famous painting commemorating the game. I believe it is called 'The Sack' or something like that. The next season, the Irish crushed Alabama in South Bend 37-6. That's the last two times these teams have met. By year: 1973 Sugar Bowl Notre Dame 24 Alabama 23 1975 Orange Bowl Notre Dame 13 Alabama 11 1976 Notre Dame 21 Alabama 18 1980 Notre Dame 7 Alabama 0 1986 Alabama 28 Notre Dame 10 1987 Notre Dame 37 Alabama 6
Sid, Well, it looks like either my credit card and marital tranquility or Lloyd's and my waistlines are going to take a hit in 2013. My portion of the bets involved products from American Spoon based in Petoskey. They make the best jellies I have ever had. Doc has a sweet tooth and has developed a fondness for their chocolate sauces via my most recent unfortunate wager with him. They have an online store so take the time to browse it and see if there is anything that interests you. I used to pay a visit or two to the South Bend Chocolate Company's store in St. Joseph when I still lived in Mi. and see that they too have an online store. Let me know what interests you on the AS site and I'll find something of comparable value on the SBCC site.

Should the Irish be fortunate enough to win this game...We will be the greatest Championship Team in the BCS era!!! No other team in the BCS era not only won the game, but also won with the #1 Grad rate, in fact no BCS Champion has ever finished in the top 10 of Grad rates like the Irish do regularily!
Damn, I just cannot get used to using my new iPad. I keep trying to log onto Skybox and it routes me to Cartier Field.
