I agree with Dave. I am surprised that Georgia would be favored over ND if they play in the BCS championship game.

I have no faith putting any money on Georgia based on their past performances in big games.

But, I still think this Bama team is a great one and Lloyd and I are in agreement that comsuming a BAPP in 15 minutes is a great way to quickly break our New Year's resolution to lose weight.

If the landscape changes from current to 4 divisions of 16 teams and a NFL Style playoff we'll be right there. Question will be what will happen to the ACC/B12? Forced merger? But you can bet that if that happens there will be lawsuits galore over the teams left out in the cold.

Think about it, your old frat brothers from the B12 like KU, Iowa State, Baylor would all be left out in the cold, then add ND and 6 ACC teams and there will be a big bunch of teams left out in the cold.

    Lawyers will be gearing up.

OK I can see your logic there....no matter I'm on first name basis with Susie in the order dept at American Spoon. I'm trying to convince them they need a 12 oz version of the Chocolate Milk Carmel! BTW my doctor says you are killing me! :)

I'm skipping ahead to respond to Dave then will scroll back.

Dave.. you cite conference opponents and the Queen of the ACC. You note that the ND played 3 ACC teams. I'd gladly like you to skip back through any one of the countless posts I've made referring to the ACC as a dumpster fire this year. That means the teams we played as well. One week they are good, one week they are horrendous, one week they are mediocre. It's the whole damned conference. You don't see me pointing to any ACC wins and saying 'yeah, behold that quality.'

I asked the very valid question... Either you are down and don't deserve your auto-bid into the NC game or you are the supreme conference in the land, thus effectively destroying your 8 week strategy of diminishing a possible ND win over an SEC team.

You are the quintessential Southern rube football fan. I say 'tell me who you play?' And you rattle off your conference members...

And there's the very real fact that your conference members, Tide aside, have not looked good against anyone except shitty ACC teams...and each other..

So which is the reality? You can't have both.

There are times Corey that your reality is very suspect also. :)

I was watching a Bowl Preview Show on cable tonight, when the host brought up several interesting scenarios. Kent State is currently ranked #17 in the BCS. If they beat Northern Illinois this week and move up to #16, the BCS bowls will be required to take them! This would most likely boot either Florida, LSU, Georgia or Oklahoma OUT of the major bowls and knock them down to the Weedeater Bowl level. The most likey outcome will be an Orange Bowl matchup of Florida vs. Kent State...

I have read that scenario about Kent State JO'Co and saw one projection where the Gators would play them in the Sugar Bowl. Then I read that if Georgia Tech would beat FSU this weekend it could be Ga Tech and Kent State in the worst major bowl ever.

However as to the Gators being knocked out of a BCS bowl, my understanding is that the first 4 teams in the BCS standings are guaranteed a BCS bowl. If that's true the Gators get one of the Bowls. I hope it isn't Kent State, but if it is we are almost guaranteed to finish 12 - 1. I like the 12 - 1 but would prefer the matchup with Oklahoma.

    That is correct.
I hope it isn't Kent State.

Corey, the SEC hasn't had many big out of conference tests but there were some good wins like LSU 41-3 over Washington, Bama big over Michigan, UF solid over the soon to be ACC Champ and even lowly Kentucky beating Kent St 47-14.

There were a couple of bad losses by Arkansas who was in disarray all year and Mizzou lost to Syracuse but beat AZSt.

All in all I think the SEC goes 7-2 or maybe 6-3 in the upcoming bowl games which will probably be as good or better than any other conference.

I think ND has a chance to make a major anti-SEC statement in Miami.

If the Irish beat whomever the SEC sends there and the conference finishes say 5-4 in the bowls as a result then humility and a dent in the reputation could be the case for the SEC next year.

If ND loses and the conference does get a 6-3 or 7-2 overall bowl record then you tell me why next year that the SEC..... in spite of the fact they play some chumps mixed in with good OOC teams and SEC conference teams..... will have to take a backseat to any other conference come BCS selection time.

No pressure... but it's all up to the Irish..... :) 8)

speaking of LSU.. what's with their scheduling? I saw they played Oregon in Arlington, TX which was a virtual home game for them... I realize that was a one time deal.. but this year they played a mid-level Washington team (their only redeeming feat this year was the upset of Stanford) but that game was in Baton Rouge..

I see next year, LSU plays TCU in Arlington... then UAB, Kent State and Furman. I'm looking at their future schedules and they aren't scheduled to leave Louisiana until 2016 when they go to Arizona State.. They do have a home-away lined up with Oklahoma in 2018/2019... other than that, it's just bottom feeders and FCS teams. I'm going through next year's SEC slate and there are a lot of snoozers again.

Oh... Kes!! I see Washington State is slated to play Auburn at Auburn next year. Any chance you'll try to make the game?

Wow, hasn't seen that. I would love to go, but the timing isn't likely to work out with my layoff date coming late next year. That sucks, that would have been a sweet road trip.

Kes, are you working on a contract, thus knowing that at the end of the contract you'll be laid off? I'm curious how you can know this far advance that it's going to happen.

Yeah, we finished agent destruction in January and are now in closure. we have Ann integrated contract schedule that we use to plan everything from work packages to resource layoffs. The milestone my rif is tied to i figure worst case will pull into October and best case stay out inJanuary 2014. We have generally improved on our contact schedules for the last five years.
