I think it's understood that good defenses cause good offenses problems and their point total usually goes down. Bama put up 49 points this past weekend and less than 1/2 of that against good defenses in previous weeks. So why did that not leave a bit of doubt, and what about UGA not just losing but getting hammered by So.Carolina? Why didn't that cause doubt?

Hey I have said that whoever ND gets is probably not the best SEC Champion we have seen in recent memory probably for the reasons you mentioned.

Heck.... Florida played miserably vs. Ga. and still were a fumble at the goal line late away from having a chance for a 2 point conversion to tie the game.

And even if UF had won that game we know that the Gators are a Will Muschamp work in progress themselves and except for their great defense would not represent UF as well as a couple of other... stronger versions.

That said....both Ga. and Bama do play defense and lots of it.....on a Stanford type of level and in the stratosphere compared to that weak **** USC put on the field last Sat.

So we have to downgrade a BCS Championship win by Notre Dame, because this won't be the best SEC champion in awhile.

Of course if we lose that further entrenches that even in a down year that the SEC is better.

It would be a great win regardless Terry... any national title is a damned good one.

Who knows about the SEC really but I personally do not think Georgia is at their best of all of their teams in the past decade.

They didn't play Bama, LSU or TexA&M in the regular season and just one loss to any of those teams would have put Florida in this game.

After what SouCar did to the Dawgs I just don't think they would win even two of those games.

Now Bama is a team that I thought was pretty powerful but began to show some defensive weakness in the LSU game that was exposed by TexA&M

I do think Bama is better than Ga but the Dawgs are on a run right now so who knows what will happen Saturday?

    Terry,

Win or lose, Notre Dame has proven they are among the best in the country. Win and they are THE best no matter what anyone else has to say. The funniest part of this conversation is that just a few weeks ago, TBD wanted no part of playing Alabama in the SECCG.

Now that Florida doesn't have to play Bama, suddenly, both Bama and the team that beat Florida are very beatable.

I am so happy that Dave is the liability of Gator fans and not Tennessee. I had fellow Volunteers on Prodigy that I would have to call out every once in a while but not here. I would bet that Wendy, RoGator, and Treefrog would become active here if Dave would stop the antics or simply leave. It's sad that we will never know for certain.

Once again you guys prove that you cannot handle the truth.

Weeks ago Bama looked invincible but the wheels got a tad wobbly after that and even some of the ESPN Gameday crew picked an upset of the Tide by Tex A&M.

You wouldn't see that pick if Bama was looking like the juggernaut they appeared to be early in the season.

Georgia had about as sloppy a win over UF as I have seen... no way they looked like one of their best teams.... especially after I watched the Dawgs get absolutely clocked by the Gamecocks.

I just point out what's true..... and you guys turn it personal as usual.

Grow some stones one time and accept things for what they are.

Or you guys could grow some stones and start playing people besides the ACC and FCS....

Catching up on this thread, Terry was just cranking out the thoughts that were on my mind..

If you don't mind, I'd like to extrapolate on this a bit.

By your own admission Dave, the SEC isn't 'up to par' with itself, as you've already started to cover your bases in case ND actually wins the NC game... but let me take a step back.

Why are you all ranked so highly? Is the rest of college football that bad? You can't have it both ways. Either the SEC is this premier semi-pro football franchise in which the conference champion is automatically lofted into the National Title game, or you're having a down year.

Which is it, you can't have both? I don't mind bullshitting with you for the next 8 weeks but I want to make sure we're all travelling in the same lane on Hershey Highway when we do..

Give me a break Corey.... jeezus.

How many times Saturday did I hear announcers on TV in the 14 hours I watched football talk about the fact UF had played so many teams ranked in the top 10 or 12 and how the UF resume for playing in the title game stood beyond reproach?

Should we drop FSU, Ga, Sou Car, LSU and Texas A&M for exactly whom in your schedule?

ACC stalwarts BC and Wake Forest?

    Pitt? BYU?

6-6 Michigan State? A lousy USC team? Michigan....who got beat like a friggin drum by the SEC's Alabama?

    Funny man..... funny.

    Corey/Kes whomever....there's an abundancy...

I give you these stats below not because I am "crowing" about Florida but because you insist as usual on harping about Florida's schedule... which is really a preposterous argument and you know it.

Season stats are below for the cumulative won-loss record of ND and UF opponents:

ND 79-62 or an average of 6.6 wins vs. 5.2 losses

UF 92-50 or an average of 7.6 wins vs. 4.2 losses

The problem for ND must be those three ACC chumps on their schedule.

OK as a result of these damning stats against ND's schedule in comparison to Florida's I'll sit back and wait for the personal insults to follow instead of anything of substance given to refute it.

How many wins did you give to Jax St or ULaLa? Anything above zero is probably too many.....

ULL would beat BC and Wake Forest most likely and probably several others on the ND slate.

You want to focus on the worst part of the schedule so be it.

The top 5 opponents for ND went 44-17 whereas the top 5 for Florida went 51-7 the significance of which is huge when you are having to win every game to advance to the national title game.

Beating the worst team on your schedule doesn't mean squat compared to having to beat the best teams and obviously Florida's best opponents have a better won-loss record than Notre Dame's.

Don't make me get Ohio State into this debate....it wouldn't be pretty and in fact it would be downright ugly.
