Time to move on from the great win at Norman. Pitt is coming to South Bend on Saturday and they are coming in with renewed confidence after beating Temple solidly with their best offensive output of the season. Their QB is a mobile QB, but we've seen him before so that is no surprise, we should be ready. Pitt and ND have split the last 4 games. We barely escaped with a 15-12 win last year, and played another close game in Kelly's first year as well, wining at ND stadium 23-17, before that Charlie had lost 2 straight games to Pitt...another reason why Charlie is at Kansas and not Notre Dame. Irish are 17 point favorites. Hopefully some of the things we saw Golson do against OU will be repeated and enhanced. He threw some good deep balls, he made a lot of excellent 3rd down throws, even Mike Stoops commented on his accuracy. Defense...more of the same. The BYU QB was also mobile and while he did get away a few times, we contained him pretty well. No let down! Go Irish!
I'm going to the game with my #3 grandson (his first ND game, his 12th birthday present), my son, and his oldest daughter (10 yrs. old). Looking forward to the trip up from Indy, about a 3-hour drive.
Looks like it will be cool but dry for the game, no doubt you will have the disposable Poncho handy just in case! As a Letter winner does Brian have great access to tickets or does he have to do the lottery like everybody else? BTW what's happened to your nephew who played OL for Davie?
LOL! Terry, of course, I'll have disposable ponchos for everyone. You have a good memory. As a monogram winner, Brian can apply for tickets in the monogram lottery if he makes a minimum contribution which is higher than the regular alumni minimum. Historically, he gets all the tickets he applies for. However, he has been so busy in the past few years with his 5 kids' fall sports that he hasn't had the time available and hasn't applied for any tickets. I only try for a couple of games each year and have had 100% success the past few years, so I don't need his help. Also, the 3-hour one-way drive from Indy limits my interest to only a couple of games. It's probably a combination of age and a big flat-screen TV at home. I'll email you about my nephew.
I want to see more Chris Brown this week. Kelly sez the kid has "elite speed and we've been trying to get the ball to him." This true frosh has been getting behind people and Golson finally found him on the bomb against Oklahoma. He should be easier to find from now on and another weapon for opponents to worry about... http://espn.go.com/blog/notre-dame-football/tag/_/name/chris-brown
Sid bring home a winner. Can there be anything more fun than taking grandkids to ND games? At the start of the season, injuries made us perilously thin in the secondary. Next season, with all the experience the youngsters are getting, the secondary with be a strength. With GAIII and Brown on the field, we are wicked fast.
For years, the knock on ND, justifiably, was our lack of team speed. We saw in the OU game that team speed no longer is a problem. It's an asset. This is what makes me feel comfortable that we can hang with anyone.
ND <t>Let's hope we see we see Golson continue to improve. If so, this game should be a win. Still, you never overlook anyone.</t>
Kelly is 4-1 vs Pitt, 2-1 while at UC and 2-0 at ND. I don't think he'll let our team take them lightly.

I just wanted to mention this before the game.. Pitt is one of those schools I don't like. It's not in a rivalry way kinda thing. There's no respect. I think they are a strip mall program. F*ck Pitt. There, I feel a little better.. hopefully the boys bring home the win.
