Playing on a 12 Pac time schedule tonight. Where do I call to purchase a defense and a kicker? Place Kicker: Free Kick out of bounds. :x Punter: Just punted for 10 yards. :x Defense: just let Mississippi State pound it down their collective throats twice! :x

Let's add special teams to that gorcery list.
    • Mississippi State pooch kickoff goes 20 yards and our guys stand around with their thumbs up their arse. Mississippi State football!

Finally get a punt that goes for 50+ yards and one of the linemen was too far off the line of scrimage. The next kick goes 25 yards.

Just shoot me now and put me out of my misery!

Add a special teams coach to that grocery list. We have had poor special teams for the last 4 years. Add a dropped punt to the mistakes for this game.

With all of our flaws, we are down 13 points at halftime. As Mack Brown said of the Red River shootout, "This is when we see if there is still fight left in our team". I hope the answer is more positive that the one Mack received!

When you give up a fumbel at your own 30 yard line, your head is not in the game. Just inside 8 minutes to make up a 10 point margin.

Well, we lose by a little more than a TD… to Mississippi State in Starkville… with a head coach just out of surgery three days and coaching from the coach’s box upstairs. In 1994, we lost by less than a TD… to Mississippi State in Starkville… with a head coach just out of surgery three days and coaching from the coach’s box upstairs. Less than a month later, Johnny Majors was fired. The main difference: Not a single coach worth getting would take this program in this shape!

I watched this game. Tennessee is looking good on offense, but the defense is still making mistakes at the worst times. How do Vol fans feel about their coach? Is his seat getting warm? Or are they being patient?

Any Vol fan with the sense God gave a pi$$ ant will be patient. As I stated before, we would be lucky to get a clown like Obama to coach this program right now.

I missed this game for reasons..mostly that I forgot you were on at night. How did you feel about he physicality of Miss St? I could kick myself because this was a game I really wanted to watch the gauge both teams.

Not a tough team at all. We should have treated them like OU treated Texas. We looked like a junior high team.

so they didn't muscle up on you at all? You guys just shot yourself in the head with mental mistakes? Frustrating.. One, because you guys lost. Two, because I was hoping Miss State might be able to hang with Alabama.

    Alabama vs Red Headed Step-Child...

    Corey,

Here is just a few of the Tennessee mistakes:

Cordarrell Patterson returns a kickoff for a TD. The next time they kick off, they pooch kick it and our guys stand around looking at each other while MSU recovers the ball.

Punt returner stands in place, misjudges the ball, reaches out to his right and muffs the punt.

    Free kick out of bounds

    10 yard unblocked punt.

50+ yard punt with a penalty for lineman too farr off the line of scrimmage. 5 yard penalty making 4th and 21 and the punt goes 25 yards.

    Easy to catch passes dropped.

Fumble on our own 30 yard line.

Arm non-tackles - YAC extremely high.

We cannot contain. Defensive ends rush to the middle of the field too quickly.

I thought you were talking about Miami for a second with all the miscues but I don't want to slander the Vols

    Tom,

    Wojo wrote this on ESPN.com....
Do you think there is a good chance Dooley is not your coach next year? If he is not, who do Tenn fans hope is your coach?

Would Vols be interested in James Franklin, Charlie Strong, etc?

I think the Tenn AD Has been very patient.

Ron Zook won at Tenn, at LSU, beat highly ranked Georgia twice....all in his first two years and then was fired in the middle of his third.....at the end of which he won at Florida State for good measure.

Of course......he DID have Charlie Strong on his staff.........hmmmmmm.

What is Ron Zook doing these days? Charlie Strong is doing the job at Louisville, he's got them at 6-0 right now. I wonder if Dan Mullen will be satisfied with Miss State.

Saw the Zooker on ESPN recently so he's employed by them I think.

If a school like Tenn were to hire Strong or Mullen then Zook could be a possible replacement but I don't see the Vols going for a coach with a pedigree and resume as mixed up as Zook's.
I do think Strong would go to Tenn if offered but I am not sure about Mullen as he is doing pretty good already in the SEC.
In the interim I think TT here believes Dooley ain't going anywhere so that's that.

Terry, Any coach that would take our program right now would fit two categories:
    • So far down that he would have to take a long time deciding between McDonalds and coaching at Tennessee.

So convinced that he is the second coming of Robert Neyland that he believes he can fix any program.

I don't see anyone out there that fits either category. Tennessee needs to stick it out and give Dooley a chance to play with his own senior players. If he can't do it in year 5, then we need to start looking.

    FWIW, I agree with Tom.
