Seen it before and seeing it again today in Auburn, Alabama. The SEC must have a passle of Alabama locals who just drive in to ref these games because they are too cheap to fly 'em in from around the conference. Every questionable possession call has gone against LSU and one was not even reviewed when it would have shown LSU possession. Then at the end of the first half there was very clear and indisputable interference on Auburn in their own endzone which in the properly refereed ND-Michigan game would have resulted in first and goal at the two. Heck the one on Zibikowski was nowhere near as clear as this one was. Man...I hope the SEC can afford airfares for the Auburn-Fla refs.
Florida will need the refs, Cause Auburn is the sh*t! Tuberville has done wonders! Auburn will win it all this year!
btw <t>i dont buy your state specific theory. <br/> <br/> however, 3 games and zero offensive holding penalties. Do you believe it? That's not to say its the reason ND lost their game.<br/> <br/> how about that tip ball call? btw</t>
The ND-Mich game was reffed by a whole different set of rules compared to Aub-LSU. Actually the refs at S. Bend called it pretty tight and nothing favoring either team seemed to jump out at you. I have a hard time seeing holding calls on TV unless replay focuses in on a questionable call. Once in awhile you do catch something obvious though. Also the Aub game was reffed much better in second half so there is hope.
oh no <t>that's not enough<br/> <br/> ND lost the game to a better team. The officials had nothing to do with it.<br/> <br/> However, you are all about the officials conspiracy theory. My point is that quite often there isn't a bench mark you can point to in order to justify that point other than a result to the game that you find unfortunate.<br/> <br/> What I am talking about is ND has played 3 opponents and not once have they been called for holding.<br/> <br/> Go ahead and find you an OL. HS, College, Pro and ask them if any one of them has ever made it thru a game w/o holding. It happens on every play. In every game. Sometimes you get caught, sometimes you dont.<br/> <br/> For ND to have now played 3 games and not have one single Offensive holding call made against the opponent is obsene. To take it further, has one even been called and denied?? I don't think so.I got a sneaky feeling that our pass rush will get tougher the further away we get from Big10 refs.</t>
I see Tailback is back to his Tuberville worship! I think the Gators will just have to show up anyway even though it's apparently a foregone decision that we will lose. Gator Bill
btw <t>any thought on a team playing opponents for 3 straight weeks without having an offensive holding call made against their opponents?<br/> <br/> Auburn's offense looked terrible, but LSU's D had a lot to do with that. Maybe not all, but a lot to do with it.</t>
Corey, I have to admit that it is unsual for no holding calls to be called, very rare. And these were not Auburn or Alabama refs, but SED refs. Just what would be their incentive to be anti LSU? None that I know of. Gator Bill
Oklahoma had it bad <t>Man, Oklahoma took a couple of bad calls at the end of there game. Oregon touched the onside kick before it went 10 yards but OK didn't get the call, then interference called after ball tipped at the LOS. Not so clear cut but could have been called. Ducks go into score and win.</t>
Bill, The Gators have the best shot in the SEC to take Auburn IMO. I think Auburn is better. Your QB's are equal. Your WR's are even with Auburn. Auburn has the big advantage running the ball. Kenny Irons is the man! Defense the advantage goes to Auburn IMO. That is a fast defense. Marks #94 is a player. Tuberville has it going on the plains.
Bill, it's just that the Gators have been hosed at Auburn on more than one occasion and it makes you wonder where these guys are coming in from. My bet is that more are coming in from driving distance as Auburn, Alabama isn't exactly an airport hub and probably expensive to fly in to. If UF doesn't get an equal shake by the refs at Auburn this year then the Gators have no chance to beat a team of that caliber.
TB, Right now I am a believer in the Florida run defense. I think UF can contain the Auburn offense pretty well. The Auburn defense is another story and the hesitant, slow developing plays that at times reared their ugly head last night in Knoxville had better be thrown out the window. Maybe Meyer should study the Fla offensive gameplan utilized by Chris leak and Zook of all people when UF went in and beat LSU's great defense in 2003. That was one of the best offensive gameplans I have ever seen by Florida coaches and Leak pulled it off brilliantly as a true freshman. From CNNSI: "Very impressive late-game composure by Chris Leak and Florida in coming back to win at Tennessee 21-20. If you're Urban Meyer, though, the thing you've got to be most thrilled about is the performance of DeShawn Wynn (22 carries, 104 yards). If he does that every week, the Gators will be awfully tough to beat." This is what UF would need to beat Auburn......
I'm not impressed at all with the UF offense, remember Air Force put up 30 points on the Tenn D and the Tenn D was weaker this week due to injuries. That one kid was playing with one arm. I just don't think the Meyer Offense has proven anything yet, it's a pretty ordinary version of the spread. So far I haven't seen a good SEC offense in any of the games I watched. Certainly nothing that could match the Ohio State or USC offenses. But it's early yet and certainly some of the teams could develope into good offenses. As I do believe the talent is there. How about So.Carolina blasting <dripping> mighty Wofford. Terry
Mighty poor showing for SouCar....mighty poor... FYI TB Wynn's 40 yard time is officially listed at 4.4.....
As bad as letting Tulane whup your ass? Miss State is a really bad football team. Ole Miss got whipped badly by an average Mizzou team and then lost to a bad Kentucky team. I think So. Carolina is a bad team as well this year. SEC looks lopsided to me Good teams in Tenn,UF and UGA, as well as AU and LSU. Alabama is unknown but definitely not a bad team. The rest of the league is just plain bad.
