When you look at the impact of Mitt's out of touch comments brought to the surface last week about the "47%" it seems unlikely he can make up the significant ground he has lost since:

"Want to know the impact that the video of Mitt Romney’s comments on the “47%” have had in this presidential contest? We have two fresh pieces of evidence. The first are brand-new New York Times/CBS/Quinnipiac surveys -- conducted right after the release of the video -- showing Obama leading Romney by nine points among likely voters in Florida (53%-44%), 10 points in Ohio (53%-43%), and 12 in Pennsylvania (54%-42%). These are margins we haven’t seen before."

Damn wouldn't you know it.....the middle class can stand up for itself after all.

I guess you don't have to be filthy rich to have your vote count.

George I think a large portion of hard working middle class have discovered/wised up to the fact that the GOP could care less about them.

Talked to a guy last night waiting for a carry out who I know ahead of time is a staunch conservative because he sits at the bar and absorbs everything that Fox News has to offer......every time I have seen him.

He explains that he is not a Romney fan.... and in fact Bain Captial caused the collapse of his old investment firm where he worked......closed them up.... "for no good reason"...... but he hates Obama so much ( of course....how could you not watching FN 24/7 )..... and that even though he acknowledges that the GOP is not about the middle class at least with them you have a chance to "get in the ring" with some capital to lose (gift from Daddy?? ).... and roll the dice and either make or lose a bundle.

Wow... now that's some sound reasoning!!!

I think you're right about the middle class Dave. You just have their leaning wrong.

Romney leads Obama in the middle class by 14%

"First off, the authors, Ed Goeas & Brian Nienaber, are Republican pollsters (bias - duh) but more than just bias, it seems the authors are actually lying.

    Politico Republican authors wrote:

"In our latest POLITICO-George Washington University Battleground Poll with middle-class families,
Romney holds a 14-point advantage (55 percent to 41 percent).

Here is the pdf data results from the poll:

If the Presidential election were held today and you had to make a choice, for whom would you vote...
    Romney/definitely ............................. 39%
    Romney /probably ............................... 6%
    Romney/lean ........................................ 1%
    Obama/definitely ............................... 45%
    Obama/probably .................................. 4%

I do think it's going to be Obama for 4 more years, sadly. He just has all the feel good issues going his way and is a marvelous public speaker and of course the media is squarely behind him other than Fox News.

Romney on the other hand is successfully being portrayed as Rich and out of touch. The sheep in this country are being lead to believe the rich people are why they aren't doing better, and Romney hasn't been able to get them to look at Obama's record of not providing jobs, of increasing the costs of insurance, and not fixing the economy. Nobody seems to care that he has never even presented a budget to the Congress.

Issues like Gay Marriage and being for womens reproductive rights seem to be trumping common sense. Those issues while important to gays and women, won't do a damn thing for the economy which he has no clue as to how to fix it.

Romney's problem is that he does indeed have everyone convinced that he can fix the economy.....but only for a select group of elite at the top who by some stroke of generosity are supposed to give raises to the underemployed and provide good paying jobs for the unemployed.

...and nobody really believes that to be true and you can't have all chiefs and no indians even though many in the GOP think that's possible.

Poll: 69% Of Small Business Owners Says Obama’s Policies Have Hurt Them…
    [IMG]
    Obviously.

    Via Washington Examiner:

Fifty-five percent of small business owners and manufacturers would not have started their businesses in today’s economy, according to a new poll that also reports 69 percent say President Obama’s regulatory policies have hurt their businesses.

“There is far too much uncertainty, too many burdensome regulations and too few policymakers willing to put aside their egos and fulfill their responsibilities to the American people,” said Jay Thomas, president of the National Association of Manufacturers, which commissioned the poll along with the National Federation of Independent Businesses. “To fix this problem, we need immediate action on pro-growth tax and regulatory policies that put manufacturers in the United States in a position to compete and succeed in an ever-more competitive global economy.”

The poll reports another ominous statistic for job creation: “67 percent say there is too much uncertainty in the market today to expand, grow or hire new workers.” Why? Because “President Obama’s Executive Branch and regulatory policies have hurt American small businesses and manufacturers,” according to 69 percent of the business owners surveyed.

Gallup Poll: Dems Long For The Days Of Communist Dictatorships, Almost Half Want One-Party Rule In America…
    [IMG]
They’d run this country into the ground in less than six months.

    Via Politico:

A record percentage of Americans would prefer that a single political party control the government, with nearly half of all Democrats preferring that a one party be in charge of both the executive and legislative branches, according to a poll released Thursday.

A Gallup poll found that 38 percent of Americans want single-party rule in Washington, while 23 percent want divided government. A third have no preference, down from 39 percent in 2011. At that time, 29 percent wanted divided government, and 28 percent wanted single-party rule. In the past, most Americans have generally had no preference.

Democrats drove the sharp spike in support of one-party dominance, with 49 percent hoping for it, up for 35 percent in 2011. A slightly higher number of Republicans also wished for one party rule, and the percentage of independents jumped from 21 percent to 28 percent.

Poll: Romney Making Big Gains In Ohio After Debate, Now In Statistical Tie With Obama…

    Giddy up!
If Romney wins Ohio, odds are Obama loses the White House.

    Via Politico:

The Republican-leaning outside group Citizens United is releasing a poll showing a tight presidential race and a tight Senate contest in Ohio, the key battleground where Mitt Romney has consistently been behind in public and private polls.

The survey, by Wenzel Strategies, has Romney in a statistical dead heat with President Obama, 48 percent with leaners to 47.3 percent for Obama, and 4.7 percent undecided.

In the Senate contest between Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican state treasurer Josh Mandel, the GOPer is up by about four points in the survey, which has a roughly 3-point margin of error and included 1,072 people from Oct. 4 through Oct. 5, the two days after the presidential debate.

    Poll: Romney’s Post-Debate Bounce Carries Him To 2-Point Lead Over Obama, 49% – 47%…
    [IMG]
    Via Rasmussen:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 49% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and two percent (2%) are undecided.

These results are based upon nightly interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, only about two-thirds of the interviews for today’s update were conductedafter the presidential debate. Sunday morning’s update will be the first national polling based entirely upon post-debate interviews.

Still, the numbers reflect quite a debate bounce for Romney. Heading into Wednesday’s showdown, it was the president who enjoyed a two-point advantage. Today is the first time Romney has been ahead by even a single point since mid-September. See daily tracking history. As with all bounces, it remains to be seen whether it is a temporary blip or signals a lasting change in the race.

Battleground Poll: Romney Up 16 With Independents, Up 13 In Enthusiasm…
    [IMG]
    Excellent.

    Via Breitbart:

In 2008, President Barack Obama won the independent vote over John McCain by a margin of eight points, 52-44. This morning, a new Battleground Poll has Mitt Romney massacring Obama among indies by a whopping 16 points, 51-35.

That’s a 24-point swing among independents since 2008, a group that makes up anywhere from a quarter to a third of voters, and yet Battleground still has Obama in the lead 49-48…?

But if I’m skeptical of those bottom-line numbers, our journalist overlords who have chosen to palace guard instead of question will declare me a “truther.”

The Battleground Poll also shows a 13 point enthusiasm gap in Romney’s favor. Only 73% of Obama’s supporters are “extremely likely” to vote, compared to 86% of Romney’s supporters.

Oh My: Pew Poll Finds Obama’s 8-Point Lead Erased, Romney Now Leading By 4 Points, 49% – 45%…
    [IMG]
Worth noting Pew skew pretty heavily to the left (oversampling Dems) so the situation for Obama is probably even worse.

    Via Pew:

Coming out of the debate, Mitt Romney’s personal image has improved. His favorable rating has hit 50% among registered voters for the first time in Pew Research Center surveys and has risen five points since September. At the same time, Obama’s personal favorability rating has fallen from 55% to 49%.

In the presidential horserace, Romney has made sizable gains over the past month among women voters, white non-Hispanics and those younger than 50. Currently, women are evenly divided (47% Obama, 47% Romney). Last month, Obama led Romney by 18 points (56% to 38%) among women likely voters. …

Romney now ties Obama in being regarded as a strong leader and runs virtually even with the president in willingness to work with leaders of the other party. And by a 47% to 40% margin, voters pick Romney as the candidate who has new ideas.

Conversely, Obama continues hold leads as the candidate who connects well with ordinary people and takes consistent positions on issues. And Obama leads by 10 points (49% to 39%) as the candidate who takes more moderate positions on issues.

BTW- Las Vegas oddsmakers (Who have been predicting a Romney victory all along) have now doubled-down on their posted odds and they're predicting a Romney landslide of 5-7 points in the general vote, with over 300 in the Electoral College. That would be the biggest landslide since Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter...

    IBD/TIPP Poll: Romney Jumps To 5-Point Lead Over Obama, 48% – 43%…

    Via IBD:

    Oct. 10, 2012

    Romney: +5.0
•Romney’s lead widened to 5 points from 2 points on Tuesday, as he continues to chip away at key Obama support.
•Romney’s edge among independents widened to 20 points from 18 just a day before.
•Obama’s lead among women narrowed from 10 points to 8 points.
•Romney also continues to make inroads among middle-class voters, moving from a 6-point lead against Obama with this group to a 10-point lead.
•The current data include only polls taken after Romney’s resounding debate win over Obama on Oct. 3.

Even better, the poll used a D+8 sample and Romney still leads by five.

    Polling period: 10/4 – 10/9
    Margin of Error: +/- 3.5%
Sample Size: 757 likely voters (identified from 873 registered voters with party affiliation of 39% Dem, 31% GOP, 30% Ind.)
