Kes, Wazzoo is on the way back. They have a lot bigger rebuilding job than UCLA, Arizona or ASU, but Leach will get it done. He's the perfect coach for that job. Within three years I look for them to cause major trouble in the Pac. Colorado on the other hand, is a basket case. They're absolutely terrible. It reminds me of when my daughter was a cheerleader. Corey and I actually gave up going to Damien HS football games to watch her, but the team lost every game and didn't even score until the fifth game of the season. Colorado is like that. The cheerleaders and Ralphie the Buffalo are just standing around like decorations. There's nothing to cheer about...
Colorado brought back all of McCartney's golden children to lead them back and they are falling flat on their face. I seriously want a trade for Boise, right now. Since that won't happen, I look for this to continue out of Colorado until they either hire another criminal willing to pimp out his daughter for recruits, or a real football coach. Until then... we have new cage liner in the P12.
Colorado was once a very good program, and not just under McCartney. Their downfall happened when they hired Gary Barnett. Boulder is still a beautiful town, Colorado is an excellent school, should be able to do much better than it is doing. But I think they are hamstrung by money, they don't have it.
JOCO - I was one of the few arguing for another year for Wulf, prior to the hiring of Leach. Doba did us absolutely no favors and I was seeing improved talent, discipline, and heart build game by game last year and thought Wulf was building it the right way. That being said, I was absolutely thrilled with the hiring of Leach because I think the ceiling with Leach is higher than was possible with Wulf. Wazzu won't ever have the talent levels of USC or Alabama, but as Leach proved at Texas Tech, you can still give those guys fits with the kinds of players he's able to attract at a school recruiting in the shadows of tu and A&M. I am a bit disappointed that our offense isn't as developed as I had hoped, but I am excited for the future. Unfortunately, with how strong the rest of the conference has looked in the last couple weeks, I don't know that we'll get another win the rest of the year after Colorado. Doc O - I'm not sure if Colorado was ever that good. I prefer to remember the B12 as being that bad. Plus, joining the P12 has provided a TON of money to their coffers already. They may have been hamstrung previously due to the machinations of tu, but being a full sharing partner in the P12 tv deal has its benefits.
