    1. Have to start of course with the Irish domination of Mich State. We were all wetting our pants that the big bad MSU defense and Le'vonne Bell would stomp all over us. I wet my pants again when we botched even getting lined up for the first play. Oh yee of little faith. :) I don't think we are an undefeated team, still think that 9-3 would be a great season. But I'm more optomistic that we will have a good year than before we kicked off in Dublin.

    2. Gators/Vols...very surprised by this game. Gators look for real at this point. Jeff Driskel was a top (maybe the top) QB in the class of 2011, but he didn't show much last year. I watched highlights and he showed me some stuff, he's a strong looking mobile QB. Should only get better as the year goes on. Gator D looks very good.

    3. Ohio State/CAL thought this would be a breeze for OSU, but in true Jekyl/Hyde form for a Tedford coached team they showed up and battled the Bucks tooth and nail. That RB who carried 3 times for a bunch of yards...why did he only get a few carries? I continue to be impressed with Braxton Miller, he's got a strong arm and is IMHO a bigger version of Denard Robinson (might be almost as fast). I would say that right now Ohio State might be the best B1G team, Michigan looks #2.

    4. Texas/Ole Miss. Wow what an offensive explosion, and on the road against a SEC team! :) I'm hoping that the offense has finally found its grove. We have a lot of talent at TB and in fact last years #1 HS TB is hardly able to get on the field we have so much talent at TB. Now the defense gave up 31 points, that is not good. Bob Davies New Mexico team ran for over 200yds on us, just didn't score. Before the season this was thought to be a top 10 defense, might still be but this game wasn't a top 10 performance.

    5. Texas A&M/SMU... Johnny F'n Football Manziel had a great game, I see he was SEC freshman of the week. Of course SMU isn't very good, but still. Garrett Gilbert the Longhorn transfer, wasn't very good at all, so far this season he looks like the same confused QB he was at Texas. Fortuneately he has his degree so he'll be able to get a good job after college. :)

    6. USC/Stanford....ha, hah! Sorry I couldn't resist. Lan Kiffen is such an A-Hole. John McKay was likeable, so was John Robinson, even Petey was likeable...Kiffin is an A-hole. To be fair, they lost their starting center a 5th year player and he was replaced by a freshman though...that had to have hurt the pass protection for Barkley. I'm sure they'll still be a very good team but I would be surprised if they don't lose another game say to Oregon or UCLA.

    7. Mich vs ? Denard Robinson show as usual. That guy is the most dynamic player I've seen in college in a long time. I wonder if he'll be able to transition to another position in the NFL.

    8. Neb vs ? Bo Pelini gave Husker fans a scare when they hauled him off to the hospital at halftime. I can't believe the usually calm and collected Pellini had a spike in his Blood Pressure. But he's back at work now so everything is ok! In the meantime his team crushed whoever that was that they were playing.

    9. Cardinals/Dodgers....well we know how this turned out. Cardinals have a lot of games with the Astros while the Dodgers have to play the Giants.

Geez.....at the rate the Jets are squashing Tim Tebow's career maybe they can use Denard in a similarly obscure....hidden on the bench role once Tim's agent gets him the hell out of there.

What a mistake signing with those guys was. Sorry for slight hijack....continue..... :D

I do wonder what Denard will play in the NFL? I wouldn't be surprised if he is an undrafted free agent. I would be surprised if he attempted to play DB, even though coming out of HS many thought he had potential to be a top college DB and in fact I believe that was the position that Urban recruited him at UF. Also the reason he went to UM was for the chance to play QB.

He seems too small to be a WR, and he really doesn't have any experience as a Punt returner or Kick returner.

    2. Very surprised as well.

    3. What was Tedford thinking??? Cal’s running game was showing success against OSU’s defense in the fourth quarter two possessions in a row. They get stopped short on third down for a 4th and 1 after a penalty earlier in the series. Option 1: go with your running game that over the previous two possessions has started showings signs of success. Option 2: go with your field goal kicker who has already missed two from that distance. Guess what, Option 2 yielded a third missed field goal. After giving up the go-ahead touchdown, you get the ball back with about four minutes to go. Option 3: go with your running game that over the previous two possessions has started showings signs of success. Option 4: go with your passing game that has sputtered all fourth quarter? Guess what, Option 4 yielded the game ending interception. Late in the game, with that much time, I don’t get why they were so adamant about forcing the pass.

    5. It took awhile for Manziel to get started, but it looks like he got hooked up in the second quarter.

    6. “...that had to have hurt the pass protection for Barkley” Ya think??? Did you watch any of the pass plays after the Freshman took over? MY HELL! That kid was apple-dunked on almost every damn pass play for the rest of the game! Barclay wasn’t able to get set after three-step drops, much less allow deeper five-step passing routes to develop! Any receiver can be covered for half a second. Stanford sure was up for this game. I think USC’s season depends on how long that starting center is out. If he’s out for the season, look for three more losses.

    10. I’m not so sure the SEC is the clear-cut best conference in NCAA football right now:

10a. SEC honorary member Louisiana-Monroe almost takes down another great SEC team in Auburn. Western Kentucky, hahahahahahahahaha. The class of the SEC is Alabama and LSU who are both very good. I don’t see anyone that could beat Alabama more than a couple times if they played ten times in a row. Step down to good teams Tennesse, Florida, and Texas A&M. Another step down to average teams South Carolina and Georgia. From there you drop off a cliff to Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Mississippi and Auburn. Missouri and Mississippi St. look to be average at this point with potential to be good.

10b. Class of the PAC-12 is Stanford and Oregon, who are both very good (probably not on par with LSU or Alabama at this point). Step down to good teams UCLA, USC, and Cal. After the cliff you have Washington St (getting better game by game), Washington (I hope!), and Colorado (no hope here). Arizona and Oregon St. look to be playing over their heads so I’m leaning more towards good than average at this point.

    11. Utah St. almost topples Wisconsin. The Big 10 not looking like they have a great team this year.

*. Tebow's more qualified to play left out than he is starting QB. For the amount of money he's getting, I can't imagine they won't work him into the game plan somewhere, but HE IS NOT A GOOD QB. (btw, that little dot at the end means PERIOD!)

    ?? really ??

    10 a.
I guess we'll see if Georgia and South Carolina are worse than Tenn since they both play the Vols......

I think Denard is roughly the same size as Randell El the former Hoosier QB who has had a nice NFL career as a wide receiver but is much faster and a better runner than El. My sense is that he will be drafted for despite his size, the combination of his great speed and running ability is a pretty uncommon talent package.

Kes, You are beng kind about the B10. I think OSU is the only team right now that has the talent to by a top 10 team but they remain a work in progress. Michigan has a good team but Alabama demonstrated that the distance betwen a good and great team is about a million miles long.

I forgot about Randal-El. Bert Emanuel who played QB at Rice also moved to WR and played. But it's a tough move, probably his only option, but you might be right with his speed he might be too tempting for somebody to pass up in the late rounds.

Dave - that was a tongue-in-cheek response to a large number of talking heads that act as if the SEC is no worse than the third-best NFL conference. This weekend I again heard the announcers claim that the PAC-12 was making a good argument for being the “second-best” conference in college football. Second best? If all you count is the top program in each conference, you might have a good point. Then I consistently hear that the SEC is so tough, top to bottom, that it’s a murderer’s row schedule week after week, so each team absolutely MUST schedule ten to twenty FCS games every year just to let their players breathe! Excuse me, but the bottom of the SEC is just as terrible as the bottom of every other major conference.

Speaking of schedules, I would argue that Oregon (very good), Oregon St. (good/average), Cal (good), Stanford (very good), Utah (good/average), UCLA (good) is AT LEAST as tough of a schedule as Missouri (average), Kentucky (HORRIBLE), Georgia (good/average), LSU (very good), Florida (good), Tennessee (good). And you’re right, Tennessee might be average or Georgia might be good, but with Georgia playing Buffalo and Florida Atlantic so far, with Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Mississippi, Auburn, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech yet to come, I don’t know that we will know, even by the end of the year, but I’m guessing they won’t be as good as their #5 ranking blesses them with. As we’ve seen with Boise St. over the last several years, it’s easier to get up for one or two tough games a year than it is eight. And there are NOT eight tough games on ANY SEC schedule this year.

Bobda – I didn’t want to pile on. I actually had pretty high hopes for MSU and Nebraska this year.

I agree re: Denard. I think he is smart enough and athletic enough to be able to learn how to run crisp routes and has a decent chance to make a good WR.

While Denard doesn't have experience in retuning punts, I think he'd be successful at it. He does have explosive acceleration and there isn't a better broken field runner out there. He reminds me of Joe Theirmann with a better prostate.

The upper 1/3 of the SEC looks damned good and the middle third while spotty has pretty good talent on hand.

The bottom third as with any conference ain't that great.

Georgia will find out something about itself vs. SC and UF and will learn the rest if and when they play Bama in Atlanta.

    1. Notre Dame looks pretty good, but I'm with you, not likely an unbeaten season. However we usually don't have more than one of them and sometimes none.

    2. Very happy with my Gators. You didn't see much from Driskel last year because he didn't play much. He had an injury and didn't play any significant time. And the offense Charlie Weis ran was strange at best.

    4. 1. Have to start of course with the Irish domination of Mich State. We were all wetting our pants that the big bad MSU defense and Le'vonne Bell would stomp all over us. I wet my pants again when we botched even getting lined up for the first play. Oh yee of little faith. I don't think we are an undefeated team, still think that 9-3 would be a great season.

I didn't see enough of this game to comment. Ole Miss is not one of the best SEC teams though and Texas is one of the best in the Big 12 so we can't conclude much about comparing the conferences. But we can say Texas looks pretty good.

    5. Texas A&M/SMU... Manziel is an amazing player. Here's hoping he holds up.

    6. USC/Stanford....I don't care about being fair, I am very happy Kiffy Cakes lost.

    7. I believe Robinson will be drafted and play in the NFL. Wide receiver being the most likely spot.

    8. Neb vs ? Glad Bo Pelini is fine.

    Nice comments Terry.

    1. I'm satisfied with the progress at ND so far. This week's game with Michigan will tell the tale about how far the Irish can go.

    2. UCLA is off-the-chart. Jim Mora has done a miraculous job. I think they're going to crush the Beavers. The 12Pac is looking mighty good right now.

    3. Arizona also looks great...wild, fast and athletic. They're at Oregon this week. Bring your calculator.

    4. I'm very curious about Michigan and Ohio State. Neither has looked very good, but they're still impressive on paper. The Wolvies have the same chance as ND on Saturday to either move up or move back.

    5. Alabama looks much better than everybody...but I'm beginning to wonder... could Arkansas be that bad? I've seen Arkansas look horrible before and not that many years ago.

    6. My western sleeper of the week is Fresno State. They have a new coach and what they did to Colorado was pornographic. My poor granddaughter: she goes to all the games with her Colorado boyfriend. Being a California girl, she's not used to being stomped like this every week. The Golden Buffs are the worst team that I've ever seen play in the Pac...

    7. Florida has looked good. Why do I keep losing points by going against them? I've got to stop that...
