Both A&M and Missouri presented very well in their debuts....I thought the Gators were goners at halftime......but as Mark May said later it's 4 quarters of being knocked around in the SEC and it wears a team down. I agree and it won't get easier for these two newbies.
Yeah, welcome to the SEC, LA-Monroe. I just don't get the need to chest thump someone else's success as though it makes the thumper a better person.
Yeah.... ULM does temper that SEC swagger quite a bit. Hell they even beat Bama a year before the Tide played UF for the SEC tiitle. But a giant upset or two does not detract from the body of work that the SEC has put forth over the past 6 years and the media has come around full force in commenting on it..... even if you don't like it Wendy.
Damn....Wendy has become like a Hit Lady around here anymore.....we never here from her until...BAM...
That's because it's popular, not relevant. Lot's of good stuff going on in CFB these days, even outside the fantasy bubble.
Dave, I am proud as anyone about being a member of the SEC. I temper that pride. I don't make an ass out of myself to the point that I make a fairly tame statement and have fans of my own team calling me out. Think about that.
...and that about sums it up....jeezus.... "Both A&M and Missouri presented very well in their debuts....I thought the Gators were goners at halftime......but as Mark May said later it's 4 quarters of being knocked around in the SEC and it wears a team down. I agree and it won't get easier for these two newbies." If anyone takes offense to that....eff em.
what if both A&M and/or Missouri are bowl teams in their respective divisions? What does that tell us then? I don't know if you've noticed, but the East looks kinda shitty again and quite possibly the 3rd best team in the West just got dumped by La-Monroe. I was going to leave it alone, but your post/topic comes off as a bit of chest thumping.. even after Wendy, Tom et all advised you to possibly maintain low cones for a bit.. you say 'eff em' to anyone who may perceive that as chest thumping.. I saw the UF-A&M game. It's a game you won and your DC deserves a lot of credit. It was a lesson in humility for A&M's HC who has proven up till this point in his career to adjust and move forward pretty well. We'll see if he can handle it at A&M. At the same time, you beat them with the thing that worried me most about you guys (in re them) perimeter speed. I just don't think A&M has the perimeter speed that you guys do.. however, 'the grind' had **** to do with it. They were every bit as physical, if not more so, than you. That being said. Your conference has some questions. Vandy is 0-2. They were beaten by Northwestern (you probably didn't see that in your masturbatory haze). Auburn is 0-2 with "SEC Killer" La-Monroe coming to town. if Auburn doesn't get them, they don't stand a chance at winning a game until mid-October (look it up). Kentucky is shitty. (I can't imagine you'd try to debate that) One of the 'high and mighty' teams in the West will come crashing down soon, Ole Miss. They are unbeaten but they have Texas this week.. another scrub but then they play their Western opponents. Bottom line, you guys have questions just like everyone else.
Ole Miss, Ky and Vandy traditionally are at the bottom of the league....everyone has those kinds of teams. The top half of the league looks pretty tough.....and essentially I know you are very disappointed that Texas A&M didn't clean our clock in College Station....clean the clock of a team that I agree is at best 3rd best in the SEC East. Florida by the way has now beaten Ohio State twice, Oklahoma, Penn State and now Tex A&M in the past five years so the old tired argument on this board of why don't the Gators play out of conference.....yada yada yada seems to be pretty moot at this point. All I am saying is that both newcomers had the most fired up home crowds and the highest motivation they could possibly hope for and it wasn't enough. If you look at Bama's demolition of Michigan and what happened Saturday I would say the SEC once again looks to be a pretty tough league this year.....and one in which Missouri and the Aggies will find tough sledding....even though both gave a good account of themselves last Saturday. I do expect both will pull off some surprise wins along the way though.
Aside from the game at Kyle Field, how many games does Florida play outside of the state of Florida or Tennessee this year? (protip: I already know the answer). You took a win on the road against a rebuilding Texas A&M with a new coach in his first game, starting a redshirt freshman QB and you're hanging your hat on that to justify your shameful, if barely existent travel history?!?!? Have you had your coffee yet? Yes, the guy who was calling Texans assholes (in a lovable way) is broken up over the A&M loss. I'm pretty sure I saw that game for the 50-50 affair it was. Are you trying to claim some sort of dominance there? Are you really that ahead of schedule? I think this point is cute: -You beat Texas A&M this year. -You beat a scandal rocked Ohio State in Jacksonville last year. I know how hard some of you Gators like to pretend that JAX isn't in the state of Florida, let alone right down the road from the UF campus, but it is. It's 72 miles. -You beat a 6 loss Penn State team that was slapped around several times the year before that that year in Tampa, FL which is a whopping 129 miles from G'ville. -You beat Oklahoma in Miami, which must seem like half-way around the world to you, back in 2008. -You beat Ohio St back in 2006 (6 years ago, not 5) in Glendale, AZ. Congrats on the roadie. It should also be mentioned that.. every single one of those wins (sans A&M) took place on/in a program that no longer exists. You've got a whole new ball coach now and you're a long way from holding the crystal.
That's the only thing you said that I agree with. But we were in the same boat in the early 2000s and then look whut happened.... 8)
With all the Gator players crawling around on the carpet with bruises, cramps and hurt feelings, and several of them out for the next game due to injuries, I'd say the Aggies stood up better than Florida did to the "rough and tumble" SEC four quarters of bangin'.
That was the only thing you agreed with.. Jesus H Christ.. You didn't play all those games (sans the 1st NC game) in Florida? Are you saying that wasn't a scandal rocked team? Are you saying that Penn State team was good at all or was not a six loss team? I hate to tell you this, but after Alabama beat them that year I know more than a few Tide alums who remember JoePa's better squads and compared that Penn State team to a top end MAC program at best. They were awful. Look it up. I could go on and on, perhaps I should just start citing the sources.. not that you'd read them or believe them anyway.
I was at the Penn State game....Clearwater as you know is the training camp for the Phillies and is a favorite destination for many people from Pa. so the crowd was almost 50-50....I was there and they were very vocal for the Nits....who like UF entered the game evenly matched at at 7-5. The 2008 UF team had never played in Miami....and Miami as you might not be aware is like another country compared to the rest of Florida plus on TV there seemed to be plenty of OU fans in attendance. OSU sucked last year.....but I thought Florida sucked worse heading in to the game and UF fans were not very enthusiastic about that one. This A&M game was a stern road test as the Aggies are pretty close to where we are in abilities it seems and their place certainly has an SEC quality to it with regard to the fans and traditions. I don't what you want.....UF has met the non-conference test on the biggest of stages and on the most mediocre ones and has been proving time and time again that they can more than hold their own with anybody outside of the SEC.
it was you that brought all this up talking about how this discounts or eliminates the whole "Florida doesn't travel" thing. That's ********. A win in Texas and a win in Arizona in the last 6 years. That's what you hang your hat on? I find it infinitely amusing how you make Florida games not played in G'ville as some type neutral site type of deal. Go on.. go ahead and tell me all about how the sun rose in the west today.
Hate to say it Corey, but you sound as bad as Dave but against the Gators. I guess that balances it out. I'll stay away from this topic.
Sorry Bill, I just don't hear the same self-gratifying, masturbatory chest-thumping sounds coming from Corey as I, and obviously others, hear coming from our Gator friend. I get that you're a Gator fan and sensitive to the comments and I appreciate that, but it appears to me that Corey is simply providing some clarification to the Gator-initiated commentary....
