http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/28/politics/dem-counter-conventions/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 " "It's worth asking: What did [Mitt] Romney build?" Villaraigosa, chair of next week's Democratic convention in Charlotte, answered his own question - "A bank account in Switzerland, investments in Bermuda and the Caymans, and an inexplicably large IRA. That's what he built." .... good answer  8)
It's just awful that a man is successful in this country and that is a reason to demonize him. You democrats didn't care when Kerry, who is the richest man in the Senate, and as rich as Romney was your man.
What a stupid, ignorant, juvenile, unAmerican characterization of a man whose hard work enabled him to amass a fortune. Mitt Romney is no different from thousands and thousands of American businessmen who took the same path. Some barely eked out a living. Others earned enough to be comfortable. Still others, like Romney, had the intelligence and ability to parlay their talents into significant earnings over the course of their business lives. What happens? Like Terry said above, the envious among us demonize him because they are not intelligent enough to understand the American ethic of free enterprise. This is the dangerous mindset, personified here by MCG, which puts this country in peril of class warfare, with the fires stoked by our current president. What bullcrap.
Very shallow. Self pity and envy. Wow. The man has given so much back and you resent his work and success.
Washington was rich, FDR was rich, and Kennedy was rich. As we learned in anatomy, assholes give a ****.
Finally... something written by MCG with which I can agree. MCG: Mopar Collectors Guide 8) 8) 8)
You're damn right he did! The relevant question is how did he do it and does that help qualify him to be the chief executive of the world's largest enterprise, now in deep peril. Let's see....he went to law school, he went to graduate business school, as a young grad he earned a job at one of the world's premier problem solving inistitutions, Bain Consulting, and quickly climbed up the ranks of some of the best and brightest minds our country and the world has to offer.....he was asked to form from scratch and lead an offshoot, Bain Capital, an enterprise that produced stunning successes and as a result of those successes, he became a wealthy man and prudently diversified his investments around the globe, while at the same time contributing $MILLION$ of his money to charitable institutions to better the lives of others. .....and then there is Republican Governor of MA and then there was taking over the troubled and bankrupt Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and turned around the fortunes of the enterprise and realized a tremendous success for Salt Lake AND his country.... Shame on him.....what a horrendous track record. Shame.... You bet your ass that's what he built from the sweat of his own brow and the blood of his own studies and efforts, but unlike others, that's not all he built..... This is where we've come as a country due to the class warfare of this President....we can demonize a man like Mitt Romney because and only because its all about campaigning with these fools and he was successful....shame on him
   OMG pleasee tell me you are not using a quote from the gang banger Mayor of Los Angeles, He wouldnt know the truth if it hit him in the face. Maybe you should ask the citizens of LA what they think of him and his PERKS that he demands. OMG I had to write Joco at school this morning about this one.....Unbelieveable.......... Oh and Dave the reason he is doing the DNC is because all good Dems have distance themselves away from Obama . Because no one in their right minds would ask this former gang member to do anything, Do you know that isnt even his real name . Under his real name he has well how can you say this a wrap sheet.
George.....I guess you need to tell CNN to grow uo as it was a prominent article today on their webpage. In any event.... I understand he worked hard and amassed a huge fortune as a result of his successes.....but I would be interested to see if any of you have an actual account of what his net job creation was in his business dealings? Here is a guy who wants to lead our country.....and help the middle class by producing jobs with his policies and better yet he says he has the track record of being successful in business to prove it. So prove it......
Are you somehow denying that Mitt Romney has a "track record of being successful in business"? Seriously? My God, look what this administration has done.....it's sickens me. It truly does...
Dave, you're a lemming and you are joyfully willing to follow Obama over the cliff in the name of partisan, class envy politics. Nothing more to discuss here.
I clearly said that Romney has been successful in business......and I said he worked hard for it. But I just wonder about the nature of that business when it comes to knowiing how to create jobs for the middle class......and even possibly caring about creating jobs for the middle class. I ask again.....what proof do we have that his business endeavors had a net creation of jobs? Or did those dealings just serve to make him personally very wealthy and keep a handful of like employees in his firm employed while at the same time actually having a very negative effect on the number of net jobs overall.....especially amongst the middle class. If that's what happened......don't give me a line of **** about he cares and has the track record to create jobs.
 re: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Real name Tony Villa...aka Tony Vivalaraza... This fool has driven the city of Los Angeles to the brink of bankruptcy. He's a tool of the unions generally and a servant of the public employee unions in particular. He has no future in politics here. He's a corrupt, self-serving moron... Re: Romney's business career Even Bill Clinton called Romney's business record "sterling." If you want an example of a near bankrupt business that Romney saved to create middle class jobs, try Staples. This man Romney has been attacked by the Obama White House as a greedy fellow who's only out for money. Consider: - Romney spent two years saving the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. His pay? Zero. - Romney spent four years turning around the employment and budget situations as governor of Massachusetts. His pay? Zero. - Romney spent two years as a missionary for his church. His pay? Zero. - Romney spent several years as a bishop to his stake...a local job taking care of local family problems for his church. His pay? Zero. - Romney inherited a fortune of millions of dollars from his father's estate...and gave it all away to charity. All of it. - Romney donates 10% of everything that he makes to his church; in addition to his extensive gifts to charity, before he even pays his taxes. The total of his church giving, charitable donations and taxes is most of his income. He's been this way his entire life. The shabby little people who would attack the character of a man like this are unrecognizable to me as Democrats. I grew up in a house full of Democrats and being a Democrat used to be an honorable thing...
http://www.mittromney.com/blogs/mitts-view/2012/06/obamas-false-attacks?cct_info=1| OBAMA MYTH: Shipping Jobs Overseas FACT: Under Governor Romney’s leadership, Bain Capital invested in over 100 companies. Of those, President Obama’s campaign has accused three of shipping jobs overseas. In two of these cases, the accusations are related to events that occurred in 2000 and 2001, well after Governor Romney left Bain Capital in February 1999 to lead the Winter Olympics. In the third case, the share of domestic production actually increased, not decreased, during the time the Obama campaign points to. This attack is merely an attempt to distract voters from President Obama’s failed economic record and his refusal to stand up to China’s unfair trade practices. OBAMA MYTH: Closing Stores And Laying Off Employees FACT: Under Bain Capital’s ownership, Stage Stores doubled the number of employees and doubled the number of stores. During this time, Stage Stores added locations in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Bain Capital sold its controlling interest in the company in 1997. Years later, Stage Stores filed for bankruptcy, but today it is a healthy business with 14,000 employees and hundreds of new stores nationwide.
Where didi you get all those facts about Romney JO'Co. I never saw that on CNN. Of course maybe it was on CNN but no one saw it. Their ratings continue to decline. (Probably Bush's fault)
Wow....you guys are a piece of work.....as if the $millions$ he personally contributed from his own pocket to help better the lives of others is not proof enough...... Based upon the scale of his contributions to others, I would say he cares ALOT more than the vast majority of people on the planet......please share with us the charitable contributions of the current administration This is what happens when a failed administration has no record of their own to run on.....
JO'Co a few other well known Bain Capital portfolio companies.... AMC Entertainment Brookstone Burger King Burlington Coat Factory Clear Channel Communications Domino's Pizza DoubleClick Dunkin' Donuts Sealy The Sports Authority Staples Warner Music Group The Weather Channel Taking into account just two of them, Domino's and Staples, they account for almost 12,000 store locations, 235,000 employees and thousands of franchisees...adding to the mix the construction workers to build the stores, the investors who initiated the development, bankers who financed the construction and ongoing working capital needs, entrepreneurs who invested in the franchises, suppliers who provide the inventory and raw materials and day to day employees I gotta believe that those contributions alone would easily exceed the Presidents good deeds for middle class workers in his financing career with Solyndra..... Listen to how absurd this discussion has become...they can't run on their own record of accomplishments as there is none and history will be terribly unkind to this economic team and yet it represents the best hope that the Dems have....think about it
