For as much as the Irish have been hurt by suspensions, players leaving, etc...from what I've read Navy has had worse going on with their lineup. Irish fans have already started arriving on the "auld sod" and will no doubt be flooding in starting tomorrow. Hopefully a good time will be had by all and the Irish will pickup a good solid win.
 After last year's opening fiasco and all the problems keeping this group together in the off season, I'll take a one point win and have the lads get the heck out of there...
ND/Navy <t>One player will insure NDs win in this game. Manti! If you watched last years' game or remember it, he's got these guys and their offense number. You fooled him once but it didn't work the second time and it won't work Saturday either. Irish win big.</t>
Al Lesar of the South Bend Tribune predicts a 31-13 ND win in Ireland...but things go downhill from there... He predicts Kelly to go to Hendrix at halftime of loss to Michigan, to go to Gunner Keil after the road loss to Oklahoma...Gunner goes 3-1 to finish the season Irish go 7-5. Al Lesar on the Season I hope he's way off!
Well it's that time of year again and hope springs eternal for all our teams right now. Good luck against Navy.
Nice article, Terry. I can visualize the kid in the Rock who had no idea who he was talking to. Funny. That was a great 4-year period in ND BB history.
Irish Sports Daily article on the depth chart. Connor Hanratty is the next man in at OG, Nick Martin next man in at OT, Golic moves to Center if something happens to Cave. Davonte Neal is the PR, I wonder if we'll actually return punts this year. ISD Article on the Depth Chart
Davonte Neal has been my pick for game changer since they signed him. I predicted that he would start at the slot receiver spot and return punts. I was close. He's the punt returner and he's the backup slot receiver to Robby Toma. I maintain my prediction that he's a game changer... What I never could have predicted is true freshman KeiVarae Russell starting at cornerback. Has he ever played there before? Did I spell his name right? This looks like a roll of the dice to me. I hope Kelly/Diaco know what they're doing...
From an ESPN Chat with Joe Montana. Joe made some comments last year at some meeting, that were very negative about Kelly. Clearly what ever relationship Kelly and Montana had over Kelly's treatment of Joe's son who was a walkon QB did not sit well with Joe.
Maybe Kelly can'r figure out what he wants but he sure as hell knew what he didn't want. That was Joe's kid.
Joe is historically one of the greatest QBs who ever set foot on the field for ND and the NFL. In this case, he is a bitter dad who is taking out his scorn on the coach who did not, in his mind, give his kid a fair shot. I saw firsthand a couple of dads like this when Brian and my nephew were on the team. IMO, it's not an uncommon reaction. In Joe's case, he has just enough media exposure that he gets to vent in a very public setting. Of course, there's the possibility that he's being objective in his criticism, but I doubt it.
ND <r>I like Joe but this is a load of crap too:<br/> <br/> I love ya Joe but we know your son, he's no Joe Montana. Don't take it out on Kelly or ND. <br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE></r>
